Description
KS1970: Kershaw Burst Folding 3" Plain Blade
Kershaw

The Kershaw Burst pocket knives live up to their name. This pocketknife series opens very quickly and have a solid feel with liners under the handle material. The knife blade style is very aggressive. The Kershaw Burst pocket knives are reasonably priced and well built.

From Kershaw Knives, "The aggressive, spiked look of the Burst is sure to draw the eye and plenty of positive comment. You’ll appreciate its SpeedSafe® assisted opening, which is easily accessed with a convenient flipper. Oh yes; and do notice that flipper. We’ve directed the blade grind all the way down the flipper for a sweeping line. The handle is injection-molded, glass-filled nylon; a stout locking liner secures the blade during use. The Burst also includes a reversible pocketclip."

Unbeatable Value for an EDC knife
I just received my 1970 Burst today. I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces, but my initial impression is excellent. I don't like pocket clips, this one was easy to remove. The glass-filled handles are okay, I am not completely wowed by the texturing, but it does feel like it will perform well when wet or slippery. It came shaving sharp out of the box, and I have used it for many minor everyday tasks. It carries well in my pocket, opens with a quick snap, and is easy to close. People have commented on the little notch on the back of the blade, I find it helps in closing, giving my thumb a place to grip while I close the blade. I haven't had to sharpen it, so I can't comment on ease or edge holding capability, but for 20 bucks, it's a well made, convenient bit of work. It fits comfortably in the hand, and if I don't lose it, I am looking forward to years of use.

Pros: Blade Material, Lock Type, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Weight, Handle Material, None
This knife is awesome
The first thing I noticed was the blade shape, what a great looking blade! Mine came extremely sharp, for real! So sharp I was a little scared about handeling it. The shape of the blade makes it a great piecing knife, the 3 inches great for EDC, sleel material easy to sharpen (and that initial sharpenes comes back). The handle is very ergonomic, not if you want something super thin, but the width of the handle makes it very comfortable in hand. The thumb jimping is great and useful, and the flipper makes a great finger guard when open. The SpeedSafe action is the fastest I've seen in a Kershaw The best $20 bucks Ive spent. Recommended! (plain blade)

Kershaw Burst
This Burst replaced my last one that I lost. I love these knives. They're well put together, take a good edge and can't be beaten for the money. The assisted opening comes in handy when fishing or hunting.
