Reate Knives
The Horizon-D marks the fourth iteration of this popular folder from Reate Knives. It is known for being a top tier every day carry knife with flipping action on par with the best in the industry. The knife features a 3.75" blade made from top quality M390 super steel. The handle is a wonderful ergonomic shape with a cutout in the finger choil making it much easier to access the lockbar in this folder. It's made from beautifully milled 6AL4V titanium with a blasted finish for the frame lock. The pocketclip and hardware have a Damascus pattern to the anodization which is an excellent touch and truly makes this knife look like a custom piece. It is a great example of how Reate Knives is taking the industry by storm; superb designs with excellent materials.

Great "Hard Use" Folder
I originally was looking to get the Horizon-C, but the dealer where I was at also had the D model in stock. Saw the M390 blade and snapped up two of these bad boys. Seems pricey but man was it worth it. I'm a pretty big fan of titanium frame lock folders, (ZT--0801, ELMAX and Spyderco Farid K2, CPM 10V) were my previous two, and this one blows the ZT-0801 out of the water. Edge retention is far better the ZT's ELMAX (heat treat?) dunno... but M390 edge retention is great and it responds very well to stropping, Cut down (chopped) a 3.5 inch sappling and there was no significant blunting. Same as the K2, but the Horizon-D's lockbar didn't move over at all, stayed at 40% the whole time, while my K2's lockbar moved from about 60% to 90%. Tougher knife? I think so. Oh it would still shave after the chopping. A little light stropping, and it would shave more smoothly than my K2 ever did. Hey, what can I say, I love this knife, glad I bought two, had my name engraved on one of em', and it's my EDC. Thank you Reate! :-)
