GB30000647: Counterpart
As the saying goes, the best knife is the one you've got with you. Make sure your go-to blade is the kind of reliable companion who can help when things get dicey. A sleek combination of tactical styling and solid daily carry features, the Gerber Counterpart lives up to its name as a knife that's there when you need it.

Whether for small cutting tasks or more serious business, the ultralight, deeply textured G10 handle holds fast in wet conditions, while the Finger Flip opening offers fast, one-handed deployment of the drop point blade, so you can get to work with ease and speed. With nothing extra in the way, the Counterpart is stripped down to the rugged essentials.

Lightweight Does Not Mean Light-Duty
The Counterpart's design is simplicity in the service of performance, eliminating any unnecessary details to keep things clean and ready to go. The G10 handle creates a super light body that's impervious to rust and corrosion, resists temperature change and doesn't get slippery when wet. The matte black finish lends a stealth, tactical look to both handle and blade, adding up to a super low-profile knife that sits lightly and naturally in your hand, ready for use at a moment's notice.

Little Things Make the Difference
The Counterpart's Finger Flip system allows for easy, fast one-handed opening, when speed is crucial. An integrated finger guard delivers added grip when cutting, while the liner lock mechanism holds the blade in place, requiring a simple and efficient one-handed engagement to release. At 3.3 ounces, it's got enough heft to offer balance in the hand, while still disappearing when it's carried.

A removable pocket clip lets you carry the knife easily in your pocket, or secure it to a bag for easy access.

Decent Knife For 15 Bucks
The "Finger Flip" feature is very weak and really doesn't work correctly. As the video mentioned, wrist-action must be used to fully deploy the blade. The handle is the best feature on this knife. It offers great grip and is a nice design. I can see why folks would give this knife a low rating if they paid more than $15 for it. Gerber continues to put out quality products, even though this knife is not one of their usually stellar offerings. I gave it a 4 star rating based on the sharpness and durability of the blade, overall design, the outstanding handle and the low price. I have this blade in one of my tool boxes for cutting duties while wrenching on my personal vehicles.

Not this one.......
I have owned a lot of Gerber knives, including one that would still be my EDC if it hadn't been lost. This one will never get the chance and is destined for the bottom of the sock drawer along with extra shirt buttons, old BIC lighters, the odd out of date credit card. The size is okay even though a bit small for my hand; but the major flaw is the failure of the flipper which only manages to open the knife 1/3 to 1/2 way open. This is a fundamental flaw in the placement of the pivot and not in how stiff the action is. I'll still buy Gerber, but maybe not their flippers.
