TOTAHO02: Tahoma Field Knife Single Edge Blade
TOPS Knives

The Tahoma Field Knife is designed to provide anything the outdoor professional would need in a knife.

"My load out for my camera is sometimes 45 lbs, and that's not including any food or equipment for my-self to keep me alive. Designing a knife that would keep my weight down to a minimum and comfortable for all day use was really the goal." said designer Andy Tran.

His background in tinkering, and fundamental knowledge of physics, and human movement was the foundation and basis of development for the Tahoma Field Knife.

The notch on the spine of the blade is used for scoring materials to create a weak point to break, as well as break wire by work hardening it, and pulling pots and similar items out of a fire. The thumb ramp has a hole in it for a forward wrist lanyard popular in cutting contests as well as aid in lashing the knife to the end of a stick to make a spear. The finger choil makes bringing the hand closer to the blade possible for fine carving tasks. The choil also creates a secondary "tip" for carving or notching etc. The overall shape of the handle is made for ergonomics, and to give the user a better grasp like on a machete. Dual spindle sockets for a bow drill make it safe to use left or right hand operation. On the pommel of the knife is a pry bar, shaped and positioned so that if given a "backseat" grip on the knife during chopping, it would not cut, or wear into your hand. Every feature is integrated into the knife to work with each other, as well as be instinctual to the user so that it feels like an extension of the body.

Whether you're in the field collecting specimens, or in the field defending freedom, the Tahoma Field Knife is a reliable companion in an uncertain world.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Nylon Sheath
Nylon Sheath
Durable, flexible, abrasion and mildew resistant, Nylon also is very strong
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

Excellent Knife!
The TOPS TFK designed by Andy Tran is in my book a superb knife. If you prefer a larger knife for your outdoor adventures then this is worth checking out. TOPS quality, micarta handles, differential heat treat, river wash treatment coupled with 1095 steel that holds a razor sharp edge. The handle ergonomics and different holding/gimping options fit my hand well. The knife performs bushcraft, camping, and survival tasks with ease. The 3/16 inch thick blade is lighter than the 1/4 inch blades TOPS usually chooses for its larger knives, which is a welcome change. I chose the single edge option mainly to avoid any over zealous LEO deciding the dual edge is worth hassling me over. The one downside is TOPS foisting off their awful sheaths which is an insult considering the price you're paying for the TFK. I bought a Red Feather Gear kydex sheath through Andy's innerbark site, which is a high quality piece of craftsmanship worth purchasing. I prefer the TFK over my TOPS Air Wolfe and consider the TFK and Red Feather kydex sheath money well spent. My purchase was shipped out fast in less than 24 hours. Thanks Andy, TOPS, Red Feather, and Knife Center!

Amazing Knife
When ordering the single edged version prepare for a 6 week wait. These are made to order. The knife exceeds every expectation I had. The nylon sheath is well thought out but the materials are very cheap. Spend the extra and get the kydex. Other than that no regrets!
