CS49KSJ1: 49KSJ1 Steel Tiger
Cold Steel

The Cold Steel 49KSJ1 Steel Tiger is a thoroughly modern tactical interpretation of an ancient Indonesian Karambit.

A design collaboration between Lynn C Thompson and the late custom knife maker Steven Likarich, the Steel Tiger was designed to possess all the best features of this iconic hooked blade and to integrate them seamlessly with modern materials and styling.

The Steel Tigers broad, deeply curved and needle sharp blade simply has to be seen and felt to be believed. The VG-1 stainless steel blade is vacuum heat-treated and sub-zero quenched, taper ground and highly polished for maximum strength, cutting power, edge retention and performance.

The tough and durable Griv-Ex core handle fully encapsulates the tang, emerging to create the bolster, thumb-shelf and distinctive finger ring. This Griv-Ex core is then injection over-molded with premium Kray-Ex polymer, creating a superb, non-slip grip that won't let you down even in when your hands are cold or wet.

For safety, convenience and lightning quick access, the Steel Tiger comes with a military style Secure-Ex sheath that you can lash to your gear or retain on your person via the removable boot/belt clip.

Cold Steel 49KSJ1 Steel Tiger Karambit Fixed 5"
Holy Moly! This is one of the very finest self defense knives I have ever owned. I have an extensive collection with a myriad of brands, and styles with some very high end custom shop knives. The blade is "RAZOR" sharp right out of the box. ~BE EXCEPTIONALLY CAREFUL; DON'T PLAY WITH IT~ This knife has one purpose, and it is for self defense. I cannot see any other purpose whatsoever. One look at this baby, and you will know it is top shelf quality. The fixed blade's shape, thickness, design, tip, grind, handle...all perfect. This baby is built like a tank. I love the sheath because the knife can be deployed on demand with minimal effort, and is held in place perfectly. The handle is just right for a tight grip. The balance is impeccable. It may take some getting used to with the ring as the rear bolster. You can get to Carnegie Hall with practice! For a knife of this quality, and performance, it is priced well below what I expected. ~CHECK YOUR LOCAL LAWS FOR IT'S LEGALITY OF CARRY~

Great knife! Scary Sharp
Love this knife. Perfect workhorse. It came with a bent tip which kept bending farther as I used it so I had to grind it down.. But other than that great blade!

retty ideal and also adds to the feeling you've got a real piece of quality tool in your hands. I guess I see how for some people it's a bit sturdy, but if this is a con for you, you don't really need this kind of knife I suppose. THe way it fits your hand more gently then a delica even, and the weight and feeling of the steel liners and the whole deal assures you you've got a tool that can do the hard labor without complaining and without worry. The opening mechanism is very snappy, the lock feels very solid, I still have to get a feel for it when closing but that's just about getting to know the knife. The blade is PERFECTLY centered on delivery. As far as Spyderco's go, I now own this, a PM2 in blurple as well and a delica 4 for the light work and light edc work, So I feel I have all my bases covered as far as Knifes go for the minute, and I should be done buying knifes (yeah right, Delica 4 in zpd-189 is already in the wishlist). I can simply not think of a reason to subtract any points from the knife, the service provided, the price and the quality of steel and whatever else there is. The blade is a perfect addition for when my PM2 just isn't cutting it (well it will cut anything, but I'm gentle with that beauty whereas I feel this blade and build could make trees chop themselves out of fear for this monster. Absolutely brilliant knife

My new favorite Syderco folder!
I primarily use this knife for everyday carry and camping. Its fairly light and compact, but very stout. It just feels good in your hands! The blade was extremely sharp right out of the box and has a great overall shape.

Nice, but largish edc.
OK, I personally think this is pretty big for a front pocket edc knife. Before you get down on the size... It's not huge, but it's on what I'd consider on the larger size for total edc. Keep in mind I've carried a benchmade mini griptilian for years. I loved the jimping on the handle, and the skeletonized liners really helped with the weight. I liked the blurple as did most everyone who saw it, but I understand it's not for everyone. As for the steel I can't say too much bad about it other than its hard to Sharpen. Being hard to sharpen for the s110v steel also means, in this case, it takes a long time to dull the blade. That said it just took some time on and edgepro and it was once again perfect.
