Microtech Knives

Deryk DC Munroe is the main source of engineering and labor for MunroeKnives. A lifelong fascination with weaponry led him to create his first knife in 1984. He followed a somewhat convoluted path to becoming a full-time knifemaker in 1997. Exploring and evolving the various aspects of the craft has driven him ever since. His style is unique and the quality of his folders is simply superb. So, it was an obvious choice for Tony and Deryk to work together to bring out this amazing Production Sigil MK6.

The production model is based on the custom MK6 variation of the Sigil, which took the compact everyday carry folder and made it suitable for tactical uses. It was still slim, angular, fast and absolutely gorgeous - and now in a size that would appeal to more of us for EDC. The Production Sigil MK6 features a 3.875" sheepsfoot style blade with a DC Munroe signature thumb cutout, a finger choil, and a jimped thumb ramp. The handle is made from beautifully milled titanium and is as ergonomic as any knife on the market. The entire knife has the Microtech apocalyptic finish which will wear extremely well and there is a copper plate to add a little bit of color and prevent the frame lock from over-traveling. The knife features a replaceable lockbar insert, titanium backspacer with small lanyard hole, and a sculpted titanium pocket clip. This is a gorgeous piece, very unusual and Tony has done a wonderful job in his interpretation of this awesome flipper. It was our favorite Marfione Custom Knife and now we're pleased to see it in Microtech's lineup with similarly excellent build quality and a very competitive price point.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Handle Material, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material, None
Cons: Ease of Opening, Pocket Clip
Great Knife with a couple of minor flaws!
Overall it is a great knife. That said I think Microtech over compensated in a couple of areas that may have created future issues. The pocket clip, which is nor removable or replacable due to the use of their tri shaped screws and the fact they are attached from the inside is a real blue jean pocket ripper. It is hard to slip in and hard to slip out. It also frays the pocket material. This was made because of complaints or fears the spring loaded clips may no keep it in place. It is a great flipper but it is difficult to open by thumb slot for those moments flashing a bade open may be inappropriate. Detents on most flippers are very aggressive so they will flip with force, but this hampers manual opening. Lastly the pivot screw is continually coming loose. I use a modified pen cap to snug it back up, but it still comes loose after flipping it a dozen or so thimes. Back to the prioritized screw heads. It's big, it's tough, it flips and cuts very well and I do not regret the purchase. Just wanted to point out a few downsides. I have a few hundred knives in my collection and had owned hundreds more during my collecting days so I have had a few knives to compare it to when writing this review.

Best Top of the Line Blade Almost EDC
This production version of the custom blade is absolutely perfect in every way. The action is amazing, the blade may fit the silhouette of a sheep's foot but it's somewhere in-between a warncliff and a sheepsfoot, with a belly. Perfect sharpness and feel in the hand from choil to thumb ramp to lanyard hole. Work of art. So worth the money especially if you make this your EDC.
