Big, Solid and Sharp
I wanted a big folder to use while working on handyman jobs. This thing is huge! I probably would have been happy with the next size down; but, this one certainly does the hard-use job. (The size also makes it a great conversation piece.) I have other knives in CTS-XHP which is one of my favorite steels. The knife came really sharp and the steel behaves as I hoped it would. As others have mentioned, the clip is too tight out of the box; but, that's easily remedied. If you want a really big folder, I highly recommend this one. Quality is excellent. Lockup is tight. Blade is perfectly centered. Prices is right.

Great Knife
This is my first Recon 1 model. I own several other XL Cold Steel folders that i carry regularly. This is a great EDC if you're into bigger knives. The clip point blade is a great cutter on everything from rope to tomatoes. It was razor sharp out of the box and it holds an edge for a good while. Great price at $99 .

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!
Cold Steel Recon 1 XL Clip Point is just, an all around great, large folding knife. This is a good candidate for your, “One Knife,” or, at least your one back-up. This dog can hunt… and bushcraft, utilitize (I just made that word up), and protect in a pinch. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blade: Excellent clip point in every respect: Point, grind, length + width, nice swedging, and razor sharp edge. This is essentially a folding Bowie in my book, with all the implications, thereof. I’m looking forward to the CTS-XHP steel. >>>>>>>>>>> Handle: A handle Paul Bunyan could grip with mittens on. Comfortable in saber, ice-pick, and reverse ice-pick (probably, comfortable in nose-pick). Grippy scales. I’m especially fond of lockbacks, and lock works well. Opens well for such a large folder. Opens easier than a new Delica. Light weight, for such a large knife, and well balanced. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I’m impressed. This knife deserves a design award for best large folder. This would be a good knife for the bug-out bag, and may fit nicely in your survival scenario. A must have for any serious collector, especially at this price. >>>>>>>>>>>>> This knife wasn’t in my budget for this month. So, the wife bought it for me as an early Christmas Gift. Boy, won’t she be surprised? Life is short, and opportunity seldom knocks twice (unfortunately, rolling pins do).
