MCKTOPBR: Custom Spin Top, Dirty Brass
Marfione Custom Knives

Spinning tops are all the rage right now because you can play with them at work, at home, and anywhere in between. They are a great conversation piece and often handmade from some of the finest materials available. This custom spin top from Tony Marfione is manufactured from brass with a dirty stonewash finish. The rod is made from titanium and can be unscrewed from the brass body so you can change it out and customize it even further. It spins on a ceramic ball which is hand-set into the brass to provide you with perfect spinning for years to come. It measures 1.22" wide by 1.37" tall and weighs 2.3 ounces. Handmade in the USA.

Marfione Custom Knives Black DLC Titanium Spinning Top, Blue Rod
My top appears to be the same as the brass one on this page, just anodized. Mine refuses to spin for any length of time. It seems that it's very much top heavy. I've been trying to get it to spin for a couple months now. I should've returned it, but I'm just too stubborn and thought that since it was so expensive, that the problem must be me. Wrong. I bought a different top elsewhere that was properly designed and works just fine. It's nowhere as fancy-looking as my Marfione, but it spins just fine. It's the only top I've seen that has a hollow rod, which lowers the center of gravity a great deal making it the finest spinner I've ever owned.

something to consider
Nice top. Nothing extravagantly designed of course, but I really like the raw bulk nature of it. Not sure when and how other stems will be available? Also, it is duller in person than is seen in these photos. Needs some polishing up. But $125 seems fairish. So.. here is the 1 thing to keep in mind. Because of the design with the "gouges" taken out, when it finally decides to spin down it will ratatattat hard on your surface. SO, BE CAREFUL on glass or mirror or custom spin docs as it is a pretty heavy top and that ratatattat - versus a smooth edge just coming to a stop - is startling at first.
