Description
SP202TIP: C202TIP Mantra
Spyderco

The Mantra is an impressive fusion of state-of-the-art materials, advanced design features and classic Spyderco styling. Its high-performance CPM M4 tool steel blade is full-flat ground for superior edge geometry and includes both an index-finger flipper and a Trademark Round Hole to provide a full spectrum of one-hand opening options. It is paired with a handle comprised of two precision-machined solid titanium scales with a no-nonsense stonewashed finish. The reverse-side scale houses a stout Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism with a hardened stainless steel interface that also serves as an overtravel stop. A reversible deep-pocket wire clip allows discreet, ambidextrous, tip-up carry, while ensuring the Mantra is always poised for immediate use.

Pros: Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Weight, Blade Material
Cons: None
Capable but light
I use this knife for an EDC at work and other situations where I do not want a very large blade. I've been using it for about a year now, so can put in a fair review. For its size and weight it's pretty capable. The lock is strong and solid. It's uninspiring to look at, just a matte battleship grey. The M4 is prone to light rust, especially since the blade has lots of machining marks from grinding. It's not a particularly smooth bearing, but works ok if it's kept clean. Ergonomics are worse than similar spydies like the caly because of the flipper. Overall, I'm glad to have it in the line up, but I don't get poetic about the design. It checks off the right boxes. Small, solid, and light with m4 and a flat ground blade.

Delica on steroids
After carrying a Delica for about three years I was looking a an upgrade. The main thing I wanted was a blade steel that had really good edge retention. After looking for quite awhile I found the Mantra and it fit perfectly into what I was looking for. Comparing this to the Delica, the handle is nearly identical in size but there is a TON more cutting length on the blade. I love the flipper, I can sit and flip it repeatedly. M4 is awesome, it holds a really nice edge compared to VG10. I love titanium, who doesn't? The only thing I've been cautious about is moisture with the M4. I really try to avoid getting the knife wet. I haven't lubricated the blade at all though and I've only seen very, very minor rust pitting in the spyder hole and close to the blade tang. Overall super happy with the knife, love my new EDC!
