BM490: 490 Amicus, Satin Plain
Benchmade

AXIS Assist... with a flipper. It's the best of everything in a slim, lightweight, every day carry. Easily operated and carried on either side, the speed and function of AXIS Assist, the convenience of a flipper. The 490 Amicus flipper features a 3.2" CPM-S90V satin finish blade with aluminum handles. CPM-S90V is a excellent high-end, premium American-made powdered steel with a uniform micro-structure that provides substantial improvements over other American-made steel in wear and corrosion resistance.

AXIS Assist

Easily opened, quickly and with one hand; this evolution of the AXIS includes a spring that helps to fire the blade into the open position once the user pushes it beyond a certain point manually. The AXIS lock also has the added benefit of "suck-back," which encourages the blade to stay in the closed position. AXIS Assist knives also feature integrated safety lock systems.

Professional's EDC
I am a doctor, hunter, professional archer and fisherman. I own several top quality knives. Spyderco mostly. This knife is most refined, sexy and functional for chores related to office, home chores- yes light EDC, full of class and beauty. The spyderco manix, endura or even the Native for blue collar work, but the Benchmade 490 Amicus for the professional gentlemen's EDC for sure. Some say to slick a handle. I say slick an sexy. You don't carry a navy seal knife into a black tie affair. Amicus Axis in your hand and James Bond you are. And yes the assisted flipper is 😎

Great Small Folder
I've had this knife for several months now and love almost everything about it. The ergonomics are great for the size. S90V is a great steel if you're not worried about the sharpening process but if so Benchmade is a great company because of their customer service and life sharp services. The flipping action is great and very smooth. I still have yet to need and take it apart to clean. The deep pocket clip is good except sometimes the screws are a little thick to get it to sit all the way down in the pocket. The only cons I have with the knife is that the handles are a little slick and could use more traction. I did break the tip because it's so then but that was my fault. I made it into a modified wharncliff or a reverse tanto.
