KUKI4468: Ki4468 Ray Laconico Intrepid Folding Knife
Kizer Cutlery

The Ki4468 Intrepid flipper by Kizer Cutlery is a collaborative project between Kizer and custom knifemaker Ray Laconico of LVKnives, based off his awesome Skinny Bear flipper. It features a 3.625" stonewashed S35VN blade with a gorgeous clip point shape. The blade to handle ratio on this flipper is nearly one-to-one, providing you with a lot of cutting power in a relatively compact package. The bearing pivot system allows for smooth blade opening, as with all Kizer knives. The matte silver finished titanium handle is slim and definitely one of the most comfortable we've ever held. Every surface and every edge is contoured for comfort and gives the knife a very high-class feel and look with the blue anodized hardware. It features a lockbar overtravel prevention mechanism, replaceable steel insert and comes with a tip-up carry titanium pocket clip.

Kizer uses high-tech wire EDM machines to cut the parts. This method is slower than laser or water jet but Kizer feels quality is worth the wait. Each component in Kizer knives is precision machined and engineered to the finest tolerances. The final fit, finish, action, and sharpness of each knife is achieved entirely by hand, employing the irreplaceable craftsmanship developed by generations of cutlery masters. Dedicated craftsman honoring the long term goal of making the best knives possible is what Kizer brings to you.

The Kizer Intrepid
A member of Kizer's Bladesmith series knives, this is a large, smooth, and dressy blade. With handles of 6AL4V Titanium, and an S35VN blade a bit over 3 1/2" long, the Intrepid has all the makings of knives that cost several times more. They put it together with blue anodized screws, clip, and back spacer, and support the blade on ball bearings. One down side (for some)- there is no option on the clip position. The blade is held open with a frame lock with a steel locking surface. I see this blade as being equally at home cutting brush out back, or cutting into a steak at dinner. A knife for all seasons, (though some might find it a bit big for EDC). Personally, I'm fine with a 3 1/2"- 4" knife- provides more options. Kizer partnered with Ray Laconico to produce this beauty. Ray/Kizer is also known for their equally awesome Gemini Flipper model. I would definitely recommend the Kizer Intrepid for high quality, good looks, and great styling.

Custom knife at a production price
I've been wanting to get a custom high end knife for some time now. I wanted a EDC folder and came across Ray Laconico knives in forums. With a price tag of 800$ I was happy to find he was working with kizer. This knife is a no BS, butter smooth, razor sharp dream to own. Feels great in the hand, and carries well in the pocket. Craftsmanship and quality are apparent in all aspects. With the materials used in the production of this knife the price seems very reasonable. I may have just bought my first and last high end knife. With a 3 3/4in blade it's pretty mean looking. And where I can't conceal carry my sig, I'll be happy to have this in my pocket.

This knife is a joy to handle. Every bit as good as a mid tech knife. Fit and finish are superb. If Kizer continues to make collaborations with American designers this good they will give everyone a run for their money! I hope to see some Hinderes, Chris R., R. Chavez, Strider collabs. I think Kizer can do them all justice and everyone would win!
