SMG1113: Apostate 1113
Steel Will Knives
Featuring superior performance and quality materials, the Apostate tactical folding knife rivals many knives twice its price. Its S35VN powdered steel blade measures slightly over 4 inches and flies open with only slight pressure on the flipper. The flipper includes jimping that allows for positive traction and serves as an extended finger guard when deployed. The 1113 features a high-strength titanium frame lock and a powerful tanto blade. Steel Will is confident you will be very pleased with the value this knife brings.

3D Handles
3D machine milled G10 handles provide excellent ergonomics and a great grip. Steel Will works with original 3D-textures. The groove on the textured handle's overlay contributes to a slip-free operation.

The tang protrudes from the handle forming a glass-breaker, which can be used for various tasks. The glass-breaker is rounded and does not interfere with the handler's grip of the knife.
  • Dark Gray Coating - Dark gray protective anti-glare coating provides excellent resistance from wear and corrosion.
  • Reversible Clip - The clip can be installed in two places making the "Apostate" suitable for left handed users.
  • G10/Titanium - The use of titanium with milled slots on the inner side of the frame allows this knife to achieve a very light weight for its size.

Frame Lock
Frame Lock
Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.
Pocket Clip
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
A tougher steel than S30V, it retains the excellent corrosive properties and ability to take an edge, but improves on the ability to hold that edge.
G10 Handles
G10 Handles
Formed in a sheet under high pressure by combining fiberglass and an epoxy resin binder. These handles are lightweight and shaped to ensure a solid grip.

Pros: Lock Type, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Blade Material
Cons: Handle Material, None
A decent but overpriced knife
Good materials for a Chinese knife: s35vn, G10 & titanium. Really attractive design with a few problems. The G10 half of the handle it just g10, no stainless frame support. I dont know why the blade & titanium handle are coated a dull grey: maybe to match but it's just prone to scratch. Better to have done a stonewash to both. Furthermore, the portion of the frame lock that contacts the blade doesn't have a stainless insert as other makers use and is the finish is now flaking off. For this price you're better off with Benchmade or Zero Tolerance. Or if you want a really nice Chinese knife then get a Kizer and save some money.

Steel Will Apostate
As the proud owner of a Steel Will Gekko 1500, I was excited to see this new for 2016 release Apostate 1116. My one and only concern with the outstanding Gekko concerned the blade lock release on the middle of the handle's back side and the possibility of an inadvertent unlocking onto my fingers during use. The Apostate has a liner locking mechanism which is a much more sturdy and trustworthy system in my opinion. In my haste to buy the Apostate, I didn't notice that it's made in China (instead of Italy like the Gekko). This might be why the handle doesn't seem as sturdy in my hands. The blade is sharp and swings into place quite smoothly. I also really like the blade geometry of this tanto design, in my initial uses it has pierced and cut well. I also noticed that there is a somewhat aggressive edge on the tab used to flip the knife open that's a tad bit uncomfortable on my thumb pad during opening but this isn't a huge issue to me. All in all, I like the knife but it hasn't upped the bar enough to become my favorite EDC.
