Pros: Blade Sharpness, Lock Type, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
The 847 sure scratched my itch!
I have a good many knives, fixed blade and folders, but I never really had a sturdy mid-sized folder for a lot of outdoor tasks/chores. So, I went on a thorough search for the knife I thought that I wanted. NAILED IT! or rather Buck did with the 847 force pro. Price wasn't really a show stopper, but I thought I should be able to find a strong dependable, quality steel blade for under 150. My final price at knifeCenter was well under 100 to boot. I knew the S30V was a "top 5" knife steel and seemed to really fit what I wanted in this knife. Next, I considered the hand fit to be real important for my last serious old age knife, so I visited the best knife/gun shop around and liked the Kershaws and Benchmades. The buck like I wanted wasn't there but I suspected the handle to be gently rounded for my fat but relatively small hand. I have had a few bucks through the years and all have been good working/hunting knives but I never was happy that they stuck to 420HC steel all those years. Well, I consider the force folder to be a fine departure from old ways and a definite upgrade to buck folders. IT IS JUST WHAT I WANTED in every way. When I got it from the box it was nice and tight like good steel out to be. The S30V blade is razor sharp and the liner lock is solid and smooth espeically after I gave it a drop or two of slip 2000. It has enough heft to let you know it is a serious piece of steel but yet not a lead weight in the pocket. The pocket clip is prefectly situated for deep carry in the pocket. Love the blue/blk handle material for grip and looks. Buck and KnifeCenter really came thru for me on my main carry EDC folder for my retirement and I never guessed that Buck would be the one to get it done!!! Knifecenter also did an excellent job with photos and tech info so that I could evaluate the knife. VERY PLEASED. ROBERT
