I own both 1992 and 1998 case reproductions as well and this is the most authentic yet. It is marked 2015 on blade to prevent it being sold as authentic ww2 knife. Very well made, could be used as a combat knife

Finally ! The repro of the repros
After waiting for years for some-one to re-create this icon of the Devil's brigade, I finally have a very nice hand crafted knife. It is about time for Case to offer this near perfect version. The balance, feel, craftsmanship, and over-all appearance are great. The blade is perfect, the grip, the skull crusher, the cross guard are all very high quality. The thumb naturally feels and directs the blade like a laser, but the signature ' thumb-print' has the wrong shape on the bottom ( above the Case stamp). The print is not like any of the publicity pictures in any of the catalogs, promos, or the Case web site ! The sheath is the best remake that I have seen. Even with the wrong thumb-print I rate the Stiletto at 95 %. Buy, but change the picture !!

As close to the original as it gets
The 2015 Case V-42 is a wonderful knife to own. I bought it as a collector knife and it looks awesome on the wall in its custom wood box from Case! The knife and sheath are top quality and feel really good in your hands. I love the knife balance when held. The tip of the blade is extremely pointy as is the skull crusher. Awesome collector knife but also ready for real use or combat. The only con about the knife is it is a bit pricey and mine has a strong smell that won't go away. Both the leather knife handle and sheath emit a strong oder that to me smells like leather oil or some kind of chemical used to treat the leather. It's not a bad smell but it is very noticeable. Mine also didn't come with the certificate of authenticity. Other than that, the knife itself is still awesome and I'm proud to own one.

Great Product, Outrageous Cost - The End of an Era.
I have purchased many of knives from Knife Center and am a collector of both custom and production knives. I have no problem with any aspects of this knife, except the price. Case is pricing this knife out of the market. Sure, if your a history buff and want to own a replica of a military knife and have the money, fine. It is a collectors knife and not for use. There are many others knives on the market at the same or better quality. When you can buy a Chris Reeves fixed blade tactical for less money than a Case, you know they are charging you too much. Case is on the verge of becoming extinct. I am of the generation who grew up with Case as a name brand. However, the youth, aka, the future, see it as an old man's knife. When they finally come out with something that has appeals to the younger buyers, they price it completely out of the market. If they do not start soon to make product that the under 40 group wants and can afford, they will become lost in the forest because of so many other trees. I will put this in my safe with so many others. My grandchildren thinks it looks cool but laughed at me when I told them the cost.

They still haven't got it right
The knife shown is good but like all the others it is just not correct. The leather over the cross guard is missing the original had a piece of leather that fit the cross guard an was about a half inch thick some like Shaun an Boker have come out with similar Knifes and even the Case 92 and 98 have a piece of leather that is about 1/16th of an inch thick to just be a reputation of the original but is poor. I have an original and can tell the difference. Sorry to rain on their parade but if going to do it do it correctly.
