Best all-purpose axe for travel.

I keep this axe in my truck. It has proven itself over and over and over again, from just going camping, or even to when a hurricane rolls through. I can’t say enough about it. And I’m not saying there would ever be an apocalyptic catastrophe, but if there were, I’m sure as all get out I would take this puppy with me.

Can't get a better cruiser axe

I lead a disaster recovery chainsaw team and "old blue" is the one tool that always goes with me on missions. Easy to keep a sharp edge on, the thin blade bites deep and the poll face is ideal for driving wedges. I made a thin "box sheath" for it from aluminum and wood that allows me to wear is "handle up" on my chain saw chaps belt for one handed wielding and storage. You can't beat this axe, mine's more than twenty years old and while the paint is mostly worn off, the axe is virtually unscathed otherwise despite years of hard use and abuse.

4 Decades of Awesomness

My grandfather got this axe in the 70's, it's 2012 now and I still use this axe daily. It's easy to sharpen, keeps an edge long and gets a razor sharp edge. The handle is some kind of rubber and unless wearing gloves, you get blisters very easily. This thing is built like a tank. I recomend this axe to anyone who needs a semi-compact workhorse that can chop weekends worth of firewood on backpacking trips or car camping.GET THIS AXE! BTW, not very good at splitting wood but its not designed to

Best Camp AXE

I've owned this axe for a few years, it goes everywhere from camping to fourwheeling. Always works great. Wouldn't use anything else.
