Pros: Blade Material, Sheath/Scabbard, Handle Material, Weight, Materials, Overall Quality, Finish
Truly usable fs, mine's just purty
My knife dueling days are over. Was desert storm over 25 years ago? Dang! I love knives that can be taken out and used and abused and perform well. You can see it in the design and feel it in the craftsmanship. Most fairbairn sykes repros are so flimsy as to be ornamental only. Some are built heavy duty and are no longer really representing fairbairn sykes. This redesign gets it just right. I dare say better than any British built blade. Sorry. Functional sheath instead of that silly military scabbard looking affair you typically get with fs. This is a well made leather belt sheath of modern design that works well. They added a tiny amount of beef to the blade, substituted alloy for the grip and guard and went to a superior Kalgard coating. At 7.7 oz you never notice it, not like most modern combat knives at around 16 oz. And the simple design really works. There's a reason that one of the world's top special forces won't give it up or change since wwii. Simple handy, effective, a great piece if kit if you are headed for the sand box. The lightweight is such an important feature, but you still maintain a full 6.7 inch reach. Just a safe queen if you're not. Join the crowd!
