Extrema Ratio RAO
To start this off: I absolutely love this knife. This is a knife is great to have on your backpack while hiking or camping and even though its a monster, I use it for EDC. The N690 steel is my overall favorite due to the fact that it is easy to sharpen, it's a stainless steel, and it has great edge retention. The handle, though its Anticorodal - basically aluminum, is a lot tougher than one would think It has stood up to intense heat, freezing cold, and it may flex a bit but has never bent any under pressure and the coating on it is a really nice non-slip material that works better as it gets wet. The tip of this knife is a tanto but not the normal westernized tanto as it is "snubbed" in comparison to other knives, but it still hold true to the fact that the tanto is extremely stong. The sheath for the knife can be used optionally since this is a folding knife but the cool thing is that it offers means to carry the knife as either open in locked position or folded and the sheath can attach to a MOLLE system as well as be carried on a belt. Seeing as how this knife weighs a lot and is extremely big for a folder I do suggest that one should put it in the sheath and attach it to a backpack or tactical vest instead of carrying it in your pocket. Also i suggest putting some blue loctite on the screw to keep it from coming loose, i did this about a week after i got the knife and i havent had to make an adjustment since, and ive owned this knife for over a year now. Extras: 1. Knife has a lifetime warranty - If it breaks you just pay the cost of shipping to send it to Extrema Ratio. 2. Knife comes in box with a diamond sharpener. My only complaint: THERE IS NO POCKET CLIP.

Practical tool
This particular knife was built mission specific. I have owned it for a year as well and where I find its strengths is in its ability to be used as a chisel as well as a cuting device. Weight ratio compared to civilian practicallity may be of some concern to minimalists and there are better choices in that case. The knife excells as a folding bush tool and due to its ability to be pinned in the locking position, allows for greater confidence in use! I would sugest going to the RAO 2 if you are looking for a more bushcraft field knife using greater plain edge and less acute angles. Theres a greater need for these types of knives where city meets mountains quickly. This is the kind of tool you can neetly tuck away as you are brushing through public areas in a National Park and then as you get in the thick of it go directly to a staright edge and use it as a fixed blade. Mine has held up excellent under medium to severe use and I strongly suggest this knife to Search and Rescue as well as cival first respnders who need a no nonsense knife that can fold up and be put away after use.
