Pros: Overall Quality, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, None
Cons: Blade Sharpness, Sheath, Blade Material
Nice knife!
I've only used this knife for light jobs around the house but so far I love it. It has some heft to it, a nicely shaped tanto point, and the steel appears to be pretty good although it needed a touch up with the whetstone when it arrived and the steel is just a little harder than I like. Overall the knife is a good value and fits your hand nicely. My only complaints other than the hardness of the steel is that it doesn't come with a sheath/scabbard and one of I ones I have have fit, indicating it is a bit of an odd size. It is also a little hard to open one handed and doesn't seem to be getting any easier with use. In addition, I don't see a way to loosen the blade so that it "flips opm" with a twist of my hand, the way most of my lock blades do, One other thing, I prefer the locks that are not blocking the blade, although everyone seems to be going to those now. I liked the old fashioned ones like on the old Buck knives and the Gerber Gators where the lock is on the back of the handle and your finger is well out of the way when releasing it. I knew this one was like that so this isn't really a gripe and KnifeCenter does a good job of putting pictures online to let you see all aspects of the knife. The handle is also just a tad "slicker" than I like. The handle material is nice, but I wish it was a little rougher. In summary, with the exception of the minor issues above the knife is a good value and it feels really good in the hand. While it may sound like I have more gripes than good points, this is chiefly because I haven't used it a lot yet. I am probably going to give some of these for Christmas this year and may even order an extra one for myself in case I lose this one so that should give you an ide as to how much I like it. KA BAR always gives a good value with a lot of knife for the money.
