A Nice, ‘Gung Ho’ Knife

This is the best representation of the V44 Bowie/Collins No. 18 Machete style Bowie knife in mass production for under $150 (although, Case’s Bowie, available at KnifeCenter.com, is more authentic). The V44 style Bowie is one of my favorites, it is true to the original intent of Rezin Bowie, to create a knife that would put down a bull with a single blow to the skull. Hence, according to American Folk Lore, was created the famous American knife that filled the gap between short sword, and butcher knife. The V44/Collins No. 18 has a proven track record with the U.S. Marine Corps Raiders on Guadalcanal, and other campaigns of WWII. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nice grind on the blade. The black powder coating is fairly durable, and protects from rust, but still need to treat the edge. Handle is comfortable/hand-filling, and I like the Kraton grips on all of the SP line. They are very grippy, weather resistant, and shock absorbing. Sheath is OK. It is quiet, and MOLLE compatible. SP 10 should perform all duties of a large survival/camp knife rather well. But, you’ll have it on hand, just in case you’re ever charged with taking a tropical island from a well entrenched defender : ) This is definitely a, “Best Buy,” Bowie. Many knife makers charge $200 and upwards for a knife in 1095 steel, this size. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I’d sure love to see this Bowie in OKC’s Blademaster-in-Residence, Dan Maragni’s excellent, 5160 steel (polished blade, stacked leather, leather sheath) …and people in he** want ice water.

Happy fun time knife

Just finished putting a stupid sharp and shiny edge on this beast. Something about a 1/4" thicc, 9+" knife that shaves like a straight razor makes me stupid happy. Every time I take this knife out and use it I love it more, everytime I sharpen it I'm impressed how well it holds up. This thing is my do all multi tool in the woods, I can slash my way through blackberries or whatever is in my way to get to the dry wood, get the wood in carry size pieces, split the wood, make tinder, fuzz sticks (if I'm bored), start the fire with ferro rod all with one tool! I could probably fight off like 20+ zombies with it, very fun throwing knife if you're ok with fu***** it up.

Awesome at everything

Use it to process wood, clear vines, throw at targets, limb wood I'm making into firewood... Anything I thrown at this beast it eats. Get one, the price is so so so good. I really can't say enough good things, if i can't break you probably won't either (I'm great at breaking things). Could be a bit sharper.

Big Heavy Excellent

Big and heavy. Something to consider if your planning on hiking light weight. This said knife is solid and comes very sharp. It's well suited for heavy usage and makes a good chopper. Sheath is OK, but very functional. Knife quality grossly exceeds the price tag. I would strongly recommend this knife if you need something this size
