Pros: Pocket Clip, Handle Feel, Blade Material
Cons: Ease of Opening, None
Almost a perfect knife
The VG-10 blade is beautiful and very sharp out of the box. It's an excellent size and shape. The handle feels excellent in the hand. I love the contoured exterior and the texture of it. Great color too. I wouldn't change a thing about it. The assisted opening is tough at first. It took around 120-150 opening before it became smoother and easier. Out of the box, it was incredibly stiff and the spring had a "gritty" sound. After break-in, it's excellent. It does take some practice to be able to open it smoothly and easily. With some of my friends, even after showing them how to do it, they struggled. I find it easier to engage the flipper from the backside with my middle finger, rather than the top side with my thumb. YYMV. The stainless liner has some beautiful machining and polish work on the back spine. Much appreciated. And the clip is very comfortable and easy to manipulate. I love that it's designed for deep concealment in the pocket. My one and only complaint is the loose lock-up. For a $150 knife, it's should lock up extremely tight. Even all of my $30-90 CRKT knives lock up extremely tight. But this one does not. It's not terrible, but there's obvious room for improvement, which is much needed. This isn't the only review to state this either. And this is why I ding this review one star. I hope SOG can correct the lock-up issue. They will have a very impressive knife if they do. This one issue aside, I am still very pleased with this knife and would recommend it.
