There'll be no TV cameras where you're using this knife.

Ken Onion designed this big survival parang to make quick work of whatever stands between you and staying alive. It's got a carbon steel blade with a black powder coat that makes this knife durable in extreme environments. A traditional Southeast Asian blade shape -- combined with a modern ergonomic handle -- give this parang maximum cutting power, with minimal hand fatigue. Multiple lanyard holes in the handle let you choose where and how to attach a safety lanyard. This knife is built for hard use and even takes an edge in the field after you've finished cutting your way out of the bowels of the jungle.

The Halfachance™ survival parang includes a reinforced nylon sheath with a unique velcro belt loop system that can be changed between two positions: dangling or snug against the belt. An extra paracord fob comes laced on the sheath for emergencies or lashing the machete to a pack, truck or donkey.

There are knives you see on survival shows. Then there are knives that get you home safe when there's no camera crew and only Halfachance™ of survival.

Good all around
Nothing I would change. Difinitly great protection but my use as a machete. Perfect lenght, fits the hand like a glove and is tackey. This will be very hard to go flying when tired and sweaty. If this has not happened to you then it's hard to think you used a machete. Weight is a very good compromise. Gets a little heavy after a while but then it can cut the heavy stuff too. Let it do the work, not you. My Condor is great for grass and light stuff but this can do light stuff if needed just not as good as my Condor. Hey you can only carry one and this is it.

Thin Lightweight Machete
This is my first and last CRKT machete. I was disappointed when I felt how lightweight it was, especially compared to my Outdoor Edge Brush Demon and Schrade Bolo. This would not be my go to machete, I think it is too lightweight and thin to hold up to Survival tasks for any length of time. I agree with other reviews about the handle being comfortable, but I prefer the grip on the Schrade Bolo. The sheath grip strap is too short, have to struggle to snap over hilt.
