Pros: Overall Quality, Handle Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Blade Material, None
Almost, but not quite.
I've used the knife for general purpose outdoor work, from hunting to fishing and primitive camping. The knife is a comfort in the hand to use. I, personally, would prefer a touch longer blade, but honestly can't complain. It's a good size for 95% of the jobs you're going to need to address in a survival/hunting/bushcraft situation. Unlike some others, I don't mind the balance being to rear, you're not going to be chopping with this knife. The only real problem I have is that the steel rusts at the drop of a hat. I would have loved to see this in another steel such as D2 which, while not stainless, it much more rust resistant than O1. Heck, even giving the blade a protective coating would have kept my OCD from going into overdrive. In fact, when Spyderco released a number of the bare blade blanks, I snagged on half a dozen, had them powder-coated and hand-fit some textured G10 handles onto them myself. Perfect for an EDC/Get Home bag and now my favorite bush knife. As another reviewer has suggested, I'd petition Spyderco for a sprint run of this knife in any of a number of other steels.
