SP180GP: C180GP Tatanka
Spyderco

Meaning "American bison" in the Lakota Sioux language, "Tatanka" is also the name of Spyderco's first "super-sized" folder. Its defining feature is its high-strength PowerLock–a deceptively simple yet incredibly strong lock that at first glance looks like an ordinary lockback. Take a closer look, however, and you'll see a secondary cam component that is the secret to the lock's strength. When the blade is opened, the tang contacts a sturdy stop pin in the handle to stop its rotation. At the same time, the spring-powered lever in the back of the handle rotates the cam around its pivot, causing a finger at the bottom of the cam to wedge against a concave surface on the top of the tang. This wedging action creates an incredibly secure lock-up, yet allows the lock to be released smoothly and easily.

The Tatanka's handle consists of two skeletonized stainless steel liners, a stout stainless steel backspacer, and textured black G10 scales. Its screw-together construction ensures precise alignment of all parts and provides an extremely solid platform for the PowerLock mechanism. Measuring just over five inches in length, the Tatanka's blade has a saber grind that combines a full-thickness spine with a partial flat grind for a superior balance of strength and high-performance edge geometry. A swedge (unsharpened bevel) on the back of the blade reduces weight and increases point utility, while jimping (textured grooves) on the thumb ramp and an opposing index-finger choil (finger groove) provides a solid purchase that allows you to "choke up" on the knife for increased control.

Despite its impressive size, the Tatanka carries easily by virtue of its four-position pocket clip. Together with Spyderco's Trademark Round Hole™ in the blade and the PowerLock, this feature ensures that both carry and operation of this remarkable folding knife are completely ambidextrous. Although the Trademark Round Hole facilitates ambidextrous one-handed opening of the knife, because of the blade's size and mass and the location of its lock release, it should be closed with two hands.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Blade Material, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Feel, Handle Material, Lock Type
Cons: Ease of Opening, Pocket Clip, Weight, None
So far this knife is awesome. I am a farmer and have carried Millie's for years. That said I have broke blades on Millie's which made me very conciseness of what I was doing, I keep them extra sharp and no shenanigans. When the tatanka arrived in the mail I was amazed by the size, way bigger and heavier than Millie. Long story short this has been my edc since I opened the mail box, I have no qualms about light prying like popping bee boxes apart, I used it to hack poison ivy vines off of trees or cut briars like it was a machete, these are things I would not do with the military. The only draw back I've seen is the blade is really tight compared to my millies. I can pull the military out of my pocket blade drawn as fast as a switch blade but the tantanka I struggle with because it's so big and heavy the blade is tight even after a couple months, I will keep trying different methods but I do miss Pulling out my Millie with the flick of a wrist ready to roll. That said I'm very impressed great utility knife!

Outanding!
This knife is amazing. It's my first Spyderco, so I had to go big! It feels great in hand and despite the size it fits well in my pocket for EDC. Looks like I'll be a Spyderco fan from now on.

Rock solid beast
For those of you that love large blades, this is the knife for you! Huge, powerful, sharp blade with a rock solid spine lock, and lock up is solid and safe! This knife has the usual G-10 scales that Spyderco uses on most of their knives. The knife although large, still fits comfortable in my front pocket, you will know it's there. This knife is not for those looking for a small knife! The VG-10 is VERY sharp and you must use caution when opening and closing the blade. My thoughts are that I love this knife, it has quality parts and will perform for many years to come! The only Con I could say about this - A knife this large would also be great with a belt sheath, but not totally necessary since it has a pocket clip.
