Spyderco Khalsa Folder

The obvious first impression is the very odd shape and look of the piece. Getting past that, I was anxious to examine this knife more closely. Upon holding the knife one feels the tremendous utility of the design. It feels like a real tool and the shape lends itself to a wide variety of grips and angles of operation. The distance needed to move the hole to open it is very short as is the distance to close it and therefore this is a fast and easy action knife. It feels very solid with the steel liners to the micarta handle and the liner is uniquely released a half inch from the blade and the loop over the blade hole allows the blade to be moved to closed easily with the first finger. This really may be a better idea in knife design. It really feels like a great tool. I can see having it on a home repair job and unclipping it when needed to trim dry wall, clip off some excess wood trim or any other odd job. It has a rugged feel. The finger grooves in the handle give several options with which to hold the knife and the action is silky smooth much like the Veile. The handle does seem more fit to medium or small grips as opposed to large ones and I can imagine a beefy hand felling like this is very much on the small side.
