The Raimie (rah-ee-mae) XL Katana represents the next generation in heavy cutting swords from the CAS Hanwei brand, embodying a design focused on powerful strikes and seamless performance. Taking its place alongside the revered Practical XL series, this new cutter maintains the proud tradition of thick, robust blade geometry necessary for serious practice.
This katana features a cohesive theme of billowing clouds and raimie (thunderclap) across the fittings, from the fuchie to the kashira. The sword is built for durability and affordability with a double-pegged and fully removable tsuka (handle), constructed with synthetic components over a wood core. The silver habaki, menuki, and seppa provide a striking contrast against the black tsuka-ito (handle wrapping) and the white faux same (ray skin). For maintenance-free handling, the saya (scabbard) features a textured black finish that resists fingerprints and smudges commonly found with lacquered finishes.
