The M16 is the most popular series that CRKT has ever seen. They're humbled to do right by the revered Kit Carson with this iteration of a legendary tactically-inspired everyday carry folding knife. This one is more than just a fresh take on a classic. It's a true tribute to one of the greats.
The late Kit Carson designed this and many of his other groundbreaking knives in his shop in Vine Grove, Kentucky. Kit's lasting legacy comes from his influence on the knife industry—he's known for popularizing the flipper which is now a household component. In addition, he's also remembered for his esteemed ranking as a Master Sergeant and his high-profile membership in the Cutlery Hall of Fame. The M16-03DB keeps all we love of Kit's original tactically-inspired everyday carry folding knife and adds a spear point blade complete with a durable black oxide finish. With the new Deadbolt lock and D2 blade, the knife is rock-solid and durable during use. The knife comes with milled aluminum handles, providing a lightweight and comfortable grip.
With the M16 reissue, CRKT is honoring a legend the best way they know how.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight
Cons: Blade Sharpness
Decent, not great
Ordered this for my late teen daughter as a first knife and I gotta say, it under performs out of the box. It arrived with an edge that could barely cut printer paper. Definitely one of the dullest knives I've ever received. I don't own any other CRKT knives but do have 17 other knives from various manufacturers (a few Benchmade, a few Microtech, a couple Spyderco and a variety of other stuff). After a good cleaning and fresh lube it operates pretty smooth. Seems like a decent knife but maybe I just got one that went through QC on a Friday afternoon. I'll sharpen it and should be fine after that. I expected a little more from the spring assist also. I had an old Kershaw leek that was way more impressive for assisted opening. My kid is excited and she likes it so that's all that matters.

Pros: Handle Material, Blade Material
Cons: None
Lots of Hype, Not so Much
Not a bad knife, may look at the bigger models. The blade deploys with an authoritative snap, I love the assist. The deadbolt release button is a little small. I have to make sure I press right in the center, and all the way down or it won't release. Also there is resistance to closing due to the assist spring. But, there are trade offs everywhere in life right? Spear point blade is sharp, and you could make a good account of yourself against an assailant. I like my Clever Girl better, but I'll look at he bigger M16 models. It is made in China, makes me grit my teeth. Let's Go Brandon!

M16 03DB
I received my knife yesterday. It comes nicely packaged with information about the knife. I will be using it as my EDC. I wanted something a little bigger than I had and really liked the looks and features of this one. I retired my Ken Onion Leek. It has been a magnificent piece. It's sharp and opens like a whip. It is just a bit small for my current needs. The M16 is heavier with a great D2 steel blade. It came very sharp and I have already given blood. I'm a little disappointed at the ease of opening as it's kind of stiff. I hope this will change when the action loosens some. It's a great looking knife with a very balanced feel to it. I will be using it around my house, camping, hunting, fishing, and kayaking. The Deadbolt keeps it secured when open.I can hardly wait for my new journey with it.
