Homesteaders friend
I’ve used this axe mostly for roundwood timber framing, shaping wood, even preferring it to a draw knife at this point. Sharpened it countless times, about a hundred, used it as a beater honestly, left it lying around, and still performs flawlessly. I've chopped countless saplings out of the rocky ozark ground without hardly scratching the edge. I’ve literally treated this thing like dirt but you'd hardly know. Really takes an edge, just from holding it up and hand filing, and holds it amazingly well. Works great as a hammer too! Its shaped like a chopper, and just by holding your palm over the hammer you can carve and drawknife even hard ozark oak with surprising ease. Much better for working around knots than a draw knife. It feels much more like an edged tool than most hatchets, and i often long for a 20 inch wedge shaped hatchet for some reason, but this does literally everything so well I can't come up with an excuse to replace it.
