Okay so it is bad enough that Cold Steel mostly use the "glass-filled-nylon" or "fiberglass-reinforced-nylon" as some companies call it in their Secure-Ex fixed blade sheaths. Now for me to pay roughly $400 each for the two new Ka-Bar magnacut steel knives the BK82 (BK2) and the BK76 (BK16) just to be disappointed/dissatisfied to find a similar material used in both Ka-Bar knives which I absolutely refuse to use or sheath my knives in rendering them useless because glass is much harder than any blade steel so if your edge comes in contact with the sheath either while withdrawing or sheathing it will instantly dull & damage your edge! Try it for yourself, take any blade and glide it along the side of this sheath and then take a close look at your apex which will now reflect light due to the flattened edge bevel the sheath caused! Please i implore you to verify this for yourself... Baffles me why any knife manufacturers choose to use GFN/FRN instead of regular Kydex or even just give us cheap plastic but atleast leave out the glass/fiberglass it carries zero benefit worth having to sharpen and reshape your edge every single time you unsheath/sheath your blade.... Thankfully I did finally find a use for all the Secure-Ex and any other similar sheaths, rather than thrown out immediately I've found the belt attachments with retention strap work very well when attached to a Kydex sheath!
