Ken Onion has set sail on a new journey with his Karbon brand, and the Ahoy is as sensational a maiden voyage as we have ever seen.

This modern incarnation of the hard-working Barlow pattern hits all the right waves for a premium EDC. The spear point blade features M390 steel for edge-holding leagues ahead of lesser steels, and the bolstered titanium handle is the perfect vessel for your choice of rugged inlays.

The hull of this knife, including the bolsters, "liners" and anchor are all machined from a single piece of titanium for increased stability and strength.

The construction of this knife is top-notch. Thanks to their partnership with Reate, every facet of this knife from stem to stern is buttoned down, perfectly finished, and world-class. The flipping action is superb and the edge is honed to razor sharpness.

This variant features naturally stable Desert Ironwood scales for some exotic flair and a classic aesthetic, making it a fantastic gentleman's knife for formal situations or parleys. The Ahoy features a nice anchor shield inlaid into this desert ironwood handle. The whole knife is a modern take on the classic working pocket knife but we have a frame lock here for security while still maintaining that classic bolstered look. The blade itself is a spear Point full flat ground just over three inches long and it features premium m390 steel. For more inspiration from classic pocket knives we've got dual Fullers emulating a long pull but the action here is all flipper thanks to the ball bearings and strong detent. For another nod to Modern convenience we've got a lanyard attachment point and a handy pocket clip.

Great knife with a retro touch
Upon unboxing this knife I was was very pleased to find that it was everything I was hoping it would be after watching the video clip about it at knifecenter.com. Very satisfying blade deployment with no sticking points and a great sound, a secure lock-up via the frame lock, and an excellent feel in the hand. The desert ironwood scales add a warmth to both the look and the feel of this knife, a nice distinction among my other knives. The anchor inlay lends a pleasing touch of nostalgia to the overall character. A draw for me is the blade shape. While a spear point, the blade is tall and the tapering not extreme giving the blade a real sturdiness and strength, it’s shape following seamlessly the lines established in the handle making for a beefy, yet elegant profile when open. The knife came sharp and would be great for wood carving, camping, or everyday carry. Hats off to Ken Onion for the Ahoy.

Great product and experience
Wanted this folder for a long time. Great quality and looks. I would have liked yhe pocket clip in a different finish but on the other side this knife sits solid and low in the pocket the way I prefer. KC customer service very fast and responsive. Recommended all the way.

Only one complaint, pocket clip
What a beautiful pocket knife. Action is stellar.Pocket clip seems undersized, but the main issue with the clip is that it is so stiff and so tight that I can’t get it over the fabric in my khaki pants. I think I need a butter knife to pry the pocket clip open so I can slide my pocket into the clip.Kind of sick paying this much money, even with it being on sale. I hope the pocket clip relaxes a bit before is tears my pants.
