This medium size Japanese friction folder by Nagao Higonokamia is a simple yet eloquent knife that is more than capable of getting the job done. The handle is made from a folded sheet of brass and has kanjis (Japanese lettering) stamped into the side. The brass handle also hides the 2-3/4" white steel blade perfectly when closed. The simple and effective lever on the blade assists with opening. The handle is equipped with a lanyard hole making this simply designed pocket knife great for an EDC (Every Day Carry).

This knife is a simple, yet razor sharp knife made by the same family that made Japanese swords in the 19th century. It’s individually hand forged by the last of the original companies. These knifes are found in every hardware, grocery, and kitchenware store in Japan. It’s rough finished, but simply the best carbon steel available today. A timeless masterpiece for a bargain price. Be careful with pocket carry unless you are comfortable with the friction keeping the knife safe in the handle. I have three or four of these around the house and at the office. It brings me great joy in performance and it’s traditional Japanese linage.

Great Knife,Proud to own.
First of all let me start by saying mine came with a couple minor imperfections on the spine (couple rough spots) but that doesn't take away from the knife at all. These blades are hand forged in Japan using traditional techniques so every blade may be unique to some degree. The blade is thick and strong,not to mention sharp. It weighs virtually nothing and I rarely notice it in my pocket. There is no lock but there is enough friction to prevent the knife from opening in your pocket. all in all I would be hard pressed to find a truly hand forged folder with this quality for the price.Plus it's a hand forged Japanese blade! ( I like samurai movies alot ) The handle could be a little more comfortable but I think that would just add weight and ruin the simplicity of the knife overall.

Great companion knife
This is a great little knife. I've been eying one of these guys up for a while, decided to make the purchase. I'm already a big friction folder fan and this knife is just awesome. It has a nice feel in the hand, and isn't awkward to carry, plush it's pretty light weight. The blade thickness stands out because for such a small and sharp knife it's fat and sturdy. I love the finish and performance of the white paper steel. I also like how they don't try to hide that this is a hand forged knife, the spine is still rough and black from the heat treat. Over all it's a really great conversation piece and can hold it's own during everyday use. I carry this thing with me all the time along with my larger Cold Steels and Benchmades. If you're looking for a knife that's absolutely perfect in terms of aesthetics- stick with something mass produced by machines.
