Description

OP165126: N012 Folding Saw, Stainless Steel

Opinel

This is a camper or gardener's must have. This very light and rugged folding saw can cut small trees or branches up to 4 inches thick and locks for safety. Stabilized beechwood is ultra-resistant and comfortably contoured to fit the hand. The blade is made from 12C27 Sandvik Stainless steel, which will not rust, however, try to avoid leaving your Opinel knife in damp environments for too long and dry the blade after each use.

Safety

  • This knife features the Virobloc Safety ring. The Virobloc safety ring was invented and implemented in 1955. This simple yet effective locking system greatly improved the original knife. The ability to help prevent the blade from opening when closed was added to the Virobloc in 2000.

Nearly Perfect
I ordered this to add to my growing BugOut stash. To try it out I used it to prune some stupid tree shoots growing right next to my home. It worked even better than I thought it would. Cuts quickly and cleanly as can be expected. I love the wooden construction used. Comfortable and warm to the hand. My only bit of dis-satisfaction is twofold, the blade is extremely stiff at the hinge, causing me to occasionally use my pliers (multitool) to open the saw. And the Viroblock hangs up at a certain point. I have oiled both areas. Hopefully they will free up and be more easily useable soon. Despite these two points, I highly recommend this pocket saw for camping, bush crafting, and general pruning work. I wish I had this with me years ago when my dad would send me up the willow tree for occasional major pruning.

Nice little bushcraft saw
Got this for my wife, and she loves it. I think I'll be borrowing it from her for some fine cutting tasks in the woods as that's what it would be excellent for.

Buy it!
Cant say enough about this! $25 for a super portable, pocket sized wood-eating machine. This is great for medium sized wood processing for wood crafters, garden pruning, camp tasks etc. saws through wood like butter and the fat handle is incredibly comfortable and gives a great purchase. Perfect backpack, toolbox, or pocket saw!
