After extensive testing, Piratech identified the perfect sandpaper grit to create a fine, detailed satin finish on the titanium, resulting in subtle, elegant striping. When coated with our high-quality DLC, these lines become a stunning accent, enhancing the nearly mirror-like black surface of the titanium. The Piratech Hand Satin DLC, also known as the Stubborn DLC Coated Titanium Scales, are designed for knife enthusiasts who appreciate durability and refined aesthetics. These scales are similar to the classic default blast titanium scales but with a few key differences that elevate both performance and appearance.

The Stubborn DLC coating, developed and tested by Piratech, offers superior wear and corrosion resistance, ensuring that your knife can withstand tough conditions while maintaining its integrity. The thin coating - around 2 μm - preserves the fine details of the titanium, allowing it to retain nearly the same appearance as before the coating, with a distinctive light-black finish that leans toward a soft, translucent gray rather than a harsh black.

What sets Stubborn DLC apart from other coatings? It's not only ultra-resistant to scratches and wear but it’s been rigorously tested to withstand even the harshest conditions. In one test, the coating was shown to withstand multiple scratches from a blade made of S90V steel (around 61-62 HRC) without damaging the coated titanium scales.
