In close cooperation with Crucible Industries, they have developed CPM-SPY27—a particle metallurgy stainless steel containing a proprietary mix of alloys, including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen, and cobalt. This remarkable composition, enhanced by the amplifying effects of cobalt and the state-of-the-art Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, is produced exclusively for Spyderco and will be featured in select USA-made models. Every knife made with this steel will also have a distinctive cobalt-blue handle color that highlights its elite pedigree.

Feels great in the hand! Love the compression lock!
I like a big knife for daily carry and the Shaman fits the bill. Most of my use is rather mundane, but I do find having a larger blade length useful on a regular basis. Only giving 4 stars because it is a bit of a pocket hog compared to some slimmer designs and the G10 handles don't have much texture and feel kinda slippery. I have a Para 2 with micarta handles and wish this one had micarta. Overall I'd recommend it to anyone as long as they understand what it is and what it isn't.

Spyderco Shaman lives up to the hype!
Been wanting a Shaman for a long time. KC had a great deal, too good to pass up. So glad I added this to my collection. Cobalt Blue G10 is beautiful. Big knife. Very, and I do mean VERY sharp out of the box. This is a rugged folder without being pocket heavy. Highly recommend!
