Simple high carbon blade.
These are exactly what you'd think they would be from the name. A simple knife a peasant might have made hade they the same materials. All these Svord peasant folders (regardless of materials) are simply two slabs of handle material, some hardware, and a blade. I assume the ancient versions would have been pinned, but the modern versions are adjustable making it very easy to adjust how much friction the folder has.Considering wood splinters and is susceptible to moisture I went with this polycarbonate model so I only need to worry about keeping the carbon blade oiled. Which also means I avoided any inconsistencies simply made wood scales would have.Mine arrived sharp enough to cut wood. It has a 90° spine for scraping tasks like preparing tinder or getting sparks from a Ferro rod. It can be operated one handed with a little practice. The "tang/lever' or whatever you call it is plenty long enough that with a firm grip on the handle the blade can't close on you.One potential "negative" is than when closed that same tang makes the overall knife longer closed than a similar modern folder would be with the blade the same length. It's the nature of a friction folder with no lock though... that tang being what makes the knife safely usable.All in all... got exactly what I paid for and very happy with the purchase at the price.
