Timor Straight Razor 6/8" Carbon Steel Blade with Gold Timor Etching, Maple Wood Handles - TIM382
Description
TIM382: 6/8" Straight Razor
Timor
Looking for beauty and function in a razor then look no further. This razor is made of a 6/8" carbon steel blade with natural maple handles. If that wasn't enough, it's decorated with a gold filigree design on the spine along with a gold etching of "Timor Solingen" on the blade.
For well over a 100 years, the name Timor has been synonymous with quality steel cutlery. Made in Solingen, Germany. Timor has been well known in the world of barbers, hairdressers and manicurists, as suppliers of top quality instruments.
In early 1923 Paul Giesen and his partner Eugen Forsthoff, moved the production of their new factory to Braumstrasse, which is in the heart of Solingen's steel district. Today the firm of Giesen & Forsthoff still manufactures there.
The blade is first hot forged from a piece of carbon steel bar. This is then hardened by heat treatment so that it will hold will hold its edge. The blade then goes through a number of different machines and hand grinding process. At this point the different sides are added. The now complete razor is hand-stropped to put on the final sharp edge. The razor is now "shave ready".
Once the razor has been used for shaving, a light strop-ping on a proper leather strop will maintain your razor for many years of use. Don't forget that you must wipe it dry after working it when you have completed your shave.
