Cons: Weight

Now, THAT’s a knife!

This is a heckuva knife for the money. I usually avoid Chinese made knives but the quality of this knife is exceptional, regardless of where it was made. It’s a big knife, right at my size limit for an EDC knife, and it’s built like a tank. It flips open easily and fast, and it locks up like a bank vault with a liner lock noticeably thicker than most. The blade is really thick at the spine and the original flat grind and drop point maintain rigidity all the way to the SHARP edge and tip. Yes, it’s a bit heavy, but I have no doubt it will do any job within reason.

It's hard to knock this Knife.

For $62 (and one of the least expensive knives in my collection) it has everything you need and performs great. Yes... It even has a lanyard hole (if you are into that). Great, solid, heavy weight knife. The assisted flipper flies out when you push the tab, you can't misfire this thing. Good size and shape blade that is useful, thick and very sharp out of the box. Locks up tight and the liner lock is easy to actuate. All action is very smooth. The handles are grippy but not too much, it won't tear up your pocket. A really nice reversible clip round out this "worth every penny" knife.

Robust, solid and very good fit n finish

This is a really nice piece of kit with substantial weight that simply feels good in the hand. While closed in hand, it feels like it’s a block of steel with plastic grippy sides. Once you overcome the initial resistance of the thick steel flipper, the blade snaps opened with force that is satisfying and surprising and a robust metallic snap that reminds me of a pro tech automatic knife. But it’s not an automatic. When blade is extended, it’s as feels like a heavy kitchen knife. There is absolutely ZERO play while opened and closed. The mechanical feel is strangely gratifying to snap open and closed repeatedly for no reason other than to feel and hear the really good mechanism work. The finish of d2 steel has an elegant brushed sheen that looks great. The thickness of the back of the blade seems excessive and the edge is perfectly even, and extremely sharp out of the box.

Al Mar knives are top

Al Mar knives are great. I have 3 of the older ones, a Secret Service knife, a Sere Attack and a Sere 2K. I am sure the new versions (especially the D2's) will perform wonderfully. Charles Roymans Belgium
