Good low cost blade
Just got this knife today. Have not used it yet in the field so this is is only an initial impression review. The 440 blade is razor sharp and has a nice grind on it. From hilt to tip it is just about 5 inches. The full tang is obvious and visible all the way through the handle to the end cap. There is a very small finger churl between the blade edge and hilt but it seems more for decor than use since it is too small for anything but the tiniest of fingers. However, there is an adequate thumb indent on the top of the blade. The handle is much thinner than I had expected. The width is barely thicker than the blade. The rosewood is very attractive as are the metal end cap and hilt. There are some minor cosmetic issues on mine such as some minor scuffing on the hilt and a non-symetric alignment of the matching bolsters. Its a minor detail but worth noting. Unlike the pictures, my knife has no rivets or screws on the handle. Overall construction seems solid enough. The knife is very light with a springy heft. The solid leather sheath seems a bit oddly matched for this knife. The retaining strap is not secured to the sheath and slides around. A small rivet to hold the strap to the sheath would have been a huge improvement. The snap on the retaining strap is brass colored and does not match the silver on the bolsters. Also, there is no drainage hole at the bottom. Unlike the pictures, my knife has no rivets or screws on the handle. Everything looks to be seemlessly adhered. First impression is that this is a good quality knife for it's price range. The sheath needs improvement. The knife seems sturdy enough to handle basic tasks. Skinnier than it looks in pictures. Slight cosmetic issues.
