Batinelli Mako

The Bastinelli Mako is certainly an improvement over Doug Marcaida's Fox Tanto Karambit. The Bastinelli Mako is light-weight and in my opinion made better than the Fox Marcaida folder/Karambits. With practice this knife can be easier to open. It is not an assisted folder, it has to be flicked open and I found it a littler challenging. I am still in doubt about how much abuse this knife can take. It is built very light and it is best made for self defense. The blade is too thin for my taste. At almost $200.00 there are available custom Karambits that are made sturdier for $200.00 or less. I also was not impressed with the sharpness of the knife. I am a huge Doug Marcaida fan and have attended one of his seminars and he a great instructor. For me this knife was too light and the overall quality did not justify the price.
