Bastinelli Pika = Pure Self Defense Excellence

I cannot say enough positive things about this knife/ new extension of my body. Being a martial artist, and someone who uses various medical instruments on a daily basis, I was completely comfortable using lethal technique with this instrument right out of the box. The diversity of carrying and deployment are like no other product on the market. Being a small woman, it’s hard for me to find self defense tools that actually function and carry properly. And when I saw a video of the durability and function I was sold 30 seconds in. It’s a winner in all aspects of a “true” self defense weapon for those of us not looking to start the fight; but to surely end it on top.

A pocket scalpel that would give Jack the Ripper pause...

Bastinelli and Doug Marcaida have hit this adaptation of the karambit out of the park. This is one fine piece of steel. I bled for hours from a simple point slip, barely had any pressure behind it, no other knife I own would have pierced so effortlessly and my collection is not slim. I adore the sheath and must say it's retention is top notch. The clip down feature is really necessary unless you want to use both hand to bare the blade. However once worn and drawn it snaps into the hand like its on springs. The length is perfect for my average hands, size L in most gloves like most adult males. This blade is truly scary sharp and I can only imagine what the damage it would do if drawn in a defensive situation. I can tell you it would be a bloody mess. However with the karambit style ring retention there is really no chance of losing ones grip no matter how messy things get. Took mine to the side of a large, and heavy gage, cardboard box after my thumb healed. It opened it up from contact all the way through my pass. This is one wicked pocket scalpel that will definitely give anyone facing it a very bad day. Next on my list is the traditionally curved version of this same basic design. Bastinelli definitely has my attention.

Awesome knife

Awesome knife, got it for my wife, she loves it. It's like a an X-acto knife with a scissor handle. X-acto should make there handles like this.

Good EDC blade

1st thing I thought when I opened the package was I'm gonna lose this knife- that belt clip isn't gonna last very long with me. but so far it has stayed where I put it. I where mine on my belt loop open carry appendix carry. I bought this knife as a EDC and as a self defence weapon when I can't carry my pistol, if I can't shoot them then at least I'll be able to cut them kinda thing. 1st impression of the blade is it is a good design, the ring keeps it in your hand. It's easy to pull out of the sheath, and if the sheath is in the right position it comes out ready to use and pointed correctly to cut. The belt clip holds it tight the sheath doesn't rattle, and with the clip it can be put anywhere on your body or in a bag. My only grip with the knife is it isn't the sharpest thing I have ever seen. I would have thought it being a scapple it would be as sharp as a razor blade but really it is not that sharp my CKRT Squid { purchased new same time as the Picoeur is a sharper blade. It really won't even cut paper with the blade, the point is sharp Maybe that's the way they designed it? Maybe they didn't sharpen it? Not sure Overall it's a good design, it looks cool, it's light, and fast. Just not that sharp.
