Excellent Little Hunting Knife

This knife is an excellent slicer and was easily able to skin squirrels and rabbits without needing to apply any pressure. It would also be ideal for field dressing larger game such as whitetails as well. I actually prefer S30V in this version of the Hidden Canyon Hunter for field applications to the S90V in the more premium version, because it can still be touched up relatively easily in the field with a pocket sharpener. That said, I never had to sharpen it in the field, not really traveling or camping out for hunting this year. This knife had noticeably better edge retention than the 1095 carbon and Sandvik 12C27 blades I typically use for hunting, although I hear it can be more brittle (a fair trade for a good field dressing knife rather than a bush crafter). The handle scales are stabilized wood and S30V is also considered a stainless steel, making cleaning the knife easy. The sheath fits the knife well and holds it securely, but it does not allow for scout carry. The knife and sheath are small enough to pull a jacket or shirt over, so I did not have any issues with it snagging on brush.

Great Little Knife

This is a fabulous little knife, but it's a Benchmade so that says it all. Very sharp OTB, well balanced, fits my hand well and the wood handle is nicely done you have a good grip. I like the leather sheath holds the knife good no worries. This checks all the boxes for me I recommend it.
