The Greg Thompson design dagger is a universal tool. It can be use in different configuration primary use to a backup tool. I have not used it in any type of encounter, but if I needed to use this tool.I would not want to be on the receiving end. Easy use by both hands finger hole for quick deployment. The only thing I would improve is maybe the handle a little wider for larger hands. I can not wear gloves all the time. I carry 24/7 very impressed with the 176BK-combo SOCP. The trainer is a practical tool also, using the trainer instead of the dagger will keep you from getting into trouble (get cut). I use the trainer for practicing all the time. GREAT SET

Great knife

Fits in waistband or jeans pocket and all you see is the loop. Have been looking for an easily concealable / easily accessible fixed blade for a long time. Excellent knife!

Everything I expected.

As an instructor in various styles of martial arts, this knife is excellent for those wanting something specialized and easy to carry. It's so light you wouldn't know it's there. The trainer fits the sheath a bit tighter, and makes the draw a bit tougher, but that can be good in stress drills. The blade is sharpened only where needed, and is sufficient enough for its job. The sheath works well, but the clip could be a bit tighter. Overall, this knife is worth the price if you are looking for something for defensive carry. I carry it inside my waistband in the V contour of my body. It takes some getting used to as the gimping can rub your side if it's not in the right spot, but it doesn't move once in place.

Nice knife / trainer combo, but not very sharp.

1. PROS - This a great combo with the training blade coming with the item for just a few dollars more. 2. NOTE One - Only the bottom 1.5 inches of each side are ground for an edge. Benchmade should have made this a full 2 inches on each side. NOTE Two - It's a knock off, as the design of this product is is a spot on copy of the Spartan Blades CQC Tool that cost $160 with a $50 trainer. Spartan Blades was dumb to let the design rights of this knife go to a bigger company like Benchmade. 3. CONS - I had to send the knife away to a professional knife shop for the following reasons; A) extend the edge out a full two inches B) and to make the edge real sharp. Straight out of the box from Benchmade it should have came sharp.

More of a spike than a dagger

I bought this for an Army deployment a couple years ago. It’s very convenient to carry and attaches to the molle loops of my plate carrier quite well. I consider it misleading to describe it as a dagger. It has a very sharp point, but the edges are dull. I believe it would require significant grinding and re-profiling to put any kind of edge on it because of how thick and rounded the blade is on both sides. If you buy this expecting a knife, you’ll be disappointed. If you’re looking for a spike to use as a last-ditch defense weapon, you’ll probably be happy with it.
