Great hunting knife
I originally purchased this as an all around camp knife, for which it is a great choice, but it really shines for me as a hunting knife. Benchmade has done a nice job hardening this 3v this steel to to a point where it holds an amazing edge. I hunt and process deer and hogs in Texas and measure an edge by how far I can process an animal before resharpening. This is not just field dressing but includes skinning, quartering and boning out the meat to a point where it can be bagged up for the freezer. So far, this knife has performed beyond my expectations. Most steels will lose their edge about halfway through the processing of one animal. This knife recently made it all the way through the processing of one deer with zero hesitation or edge loss. I think it would make it through two animals. I’d compare it k390 steel. The 5” blade has a nice belly for those long sweeping cuts removing the hide. The blade is a little thicker than necessary for a hunting knife but it’s well balanced and the high flat grind created no noticeable drag. If I could change one thing I’d add a slight finger guard to the handle. At one point I moved my index finger too far forward and picked up a small cut. Otherwise, this is a great “do it all” knife at a very fair price.
