Nearly 30 yrs old! Functions like new.

The only difference is mine has the combo serrated blade. Because of it's lightweight this is my concealable protection knife. Comfortable, small form factor, easy to wear whether I'm wearing a suit or jeans. I purchased this model in 1990 or 1991. I've kept it well maintained the only wear is from carrying. The spring is still tight, the blade is tight in the action and it holds an edge with just a few round trips on my 4k grit, 8k grit, and 15k to polish. I've cut rope, plastic sheeting, cardboard and dug out splinters with this. By far my favorite carry knife

Great Benchmade

Really like this knife and it deploys quickly. I bought it mainly for just daily use, etc. When I was a kid, my dad owned an older version of this knife and the 3551 is very close. He still has his and I actually much prefer the activation button on the newer model -the notch + recess fits you thumb really easily and it finds its way into position. The button is also more elevated than the old one, and that makes it also easier to activate Body is very light and grips well; the anodization does shoe wear pretty quickly, especially with keys making contact. That might bother some, and it did for me, initially, because this is an expensive little dude. But now, it doesn’t bother me at all; it’s what makes it yours! I rated this knife a 4, because it did not arrive very sharp at all I think with Benchmade’s lifetime warranty, you can send in the knife though and they will sharpen for free Outside that minor inconvenience, I am happy with carrying this around daily for utility and love the size. And for that usage, it’s sizable enough to have a presence about it, but it’s not so small where you feel like you wished you had gotten something bigger Knifecenter did a solid job with the preorder and it arrived within 2 weeks
