Small in size, will fit in any jacket or pant pocket unnoticed, but perfectly useful when needed. This is the epidemie of a gentleman's pocket knife. Sharp and beautiful. Quality is superb.
Pros: Ease of Opening, Blade Material, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Beautiful pocket knife reasonably priced
Beautiful 'gentleman's' knife. I wish the blade was a bit longer but then it would not be a 'gentleman's' knife. The blade easily slices paper. Excellent value. Expect a lifetime of use.
The Megumi is a well-made and attractive piece of equipment. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I did not have much difficulty in working the locking mechanism. I like the solid lockup when the blade comes fully open. The knife was very sharp as delivered. The knife is more appropriately a clothing accessory--a nice slim item to drop into a pair of dress trousers, and not a piece of utilitarian equipment to hang from a clip in your jeans pocket. The knife did NOT come with a sheath and I had difficulty in finding a suitably designed model. I wanted a simple leather pocket pouch similar to the one for the Chris Reeve Mnandi and Small Sebenza. But the latter has a 2.94-inch blade and this meant that the Chris Reeve pouch would have been too big for the 2.48-inch blade Benchmade Megumi. So I went to my local leather shop and purchased the hide and tools to make my own--which turned out "just right."
- Just big enough to be useful {3 finger hold} - very inoffensive: suitable for the office and for EDC in states with unfriendly knife laws {pinky sized blade} - Matte finish - The CF is laid on top of the wood, so you can feel the seam.
Have always had a knife in my pocket especially working commercial fishing boats for the last 50 years. Even when not on a boat hardly a day goes by that I or someone nearby needs a knife to open or cut something. I like the small size so it doesn't overwhelm my pocket. Obvious quality in material and construction of this knife. One handed opening is easy enough. Very solid feel when using. Took me a while to decide from all the choices you have but glad I went with this one. Small size and Made in America with a high quality steel were my criteria.
Well i use the knife at work cutting boxes kinda overkill knife for that purpose but i wanted a good blade the handle feels natural in my hand even with the CF inlay. The nak-lock took a day to get used to no big deal. Blade stays very sharp but is a little harder to sharpen with the s30v blade but thats the drawback with most quality steels i have used would deffinately recommend the knife
This little gem is my EDC. As always Benchmade has made s high quality knife. I own several knifes made by Benchmade, some based off blade material, others based of handle material, a few based of design, and all of them based of high quality. This knife having all aspects in one package. Handle made of Cocobolo, blade being S30V, the size is perfect for front pocket carry with all clothing styles. Perfect small gentlemens folder for the knife enthusiast. Thank you Benchmade again for a great knife.
Great knife for the purpose I wanted (see headline). Great balance and weight. I was very satisfied with the ordering and delivery process. No negatives whatsoever. I would be elated if the price point were a bit lower.
The knife is well made, nice steel. However I am left handed an tried to place opening stud on other side. The screw was not long enough and would not hold the stud. Wish they would of advertised only for right handed users.
The knife is a fine tool for right handed user. I tried to change the opening stud to the opposite side but would not work. Love the feel and look of this knife.
A quality product, I bought 1 for a gift & then another for myself. S30V steel is awessome, haven't needed to stone it yet. Lock is stiff to open, but seems to be breaking in w/ use, can now flip blade 1 handed. I like it enough I'm looking at purchasine another from this series.
Yes, I knew it has a 2.48" blade when I ordered the knife, but when receiving it I was surprised on how small it actually is. As other mention due the size one handed opening is a bit awkward and a bit stiff. The blade is very sharp. The carbon is gorgeous.
Because of the small size one handed opening is a bit awkward. Both the pivot screw and the screw that holds the Nak-Lock button in place worked loose in a short time. Fairly easy to fix but Benchmade should have used thread locker during assembly to prevent this.
