Outstanding quality and design. The only thing to nitpick is that it would be nice to have swedge for aesthetics. Other than that perfect blade centering and feel.
I’ve had this knife for several months now and it is my favorite. Ergonomics are perfect. Easy to carry and easy to use in your hand. Extremely sharp but more importantly easy to sharpen. I own many knives, most of them benchmades. I would say that this is as close to perfection as you can get
I have a very nice collection of knives but the Super Freek has found its way into my pocket as my EDC. It takes and holds a razor sharp edge, feels great in hand and is perfectly centered. At 4.3 oz. it may be more than some want, but if you're looking for a knife to go the distance, the Super Freek is super.
Love Freek it’s my new EFC light but fills the hand well. After some flicking open and closing a few dozen times it’s now so smooth to open an close. Love the one hand manipulation of this knife. I did order a deep pocket clip I do believe it should have come with one. Over all great knife!!
Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Handle Material, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality
Cons: None
Good solid knife
Will start with how disappointing Benchmade has been in regards to terribly uneven bevels. I have 12 Benchmades and all have had very uneven bevels and take alot of work to square up on a guided sharpener. This Freek was awesome out of the box. After finding the angle, I set to 14.5 degrees on my kme sharpener and there was no reprofiling at all. I ran through all my stones and leather hone and was the easiest factory edge I have touched ever from any brand of knife. I really hope this trend continues with Benchmade!! I am into smaller knives, but having the mini freek it was time to get the big brother. Everything about this knife is great. It is big but handles great and very comfortable in hand. I have had issue with some BM knives having blade wiggle in order to get the knife to run smooth. This one has zero blade play and probably the smoothest action of any BM knife I own. Even without full liners, this is a beast!! I have beat on a Griptilian and a PM2 for years. Both are know to be stout hard use knives. While I haven't got many miles on the Freek yet, it feels more substantial while being thin enough in the blade for finer work. This is an overall great knife. While it won't be in my pocket everyday, it will be great for my outdoor adventures.
In addition to being a very visually appealing design. The feel in hand is just fantastic. The handle texturing is just right too. Fit and finish on mine were near perfect. Easily one of the best knives in Benchmade's current lineup. Bought this knife a few days ago, and I have to say I am totally impressed. This is a premium unit made with the highest quality materials and it’s real work-horse! One handed operation is bar-none, the best of any folder I have ever owned. The action is buttery smooth on opening and drops closed easily. This will be my go-to for the foreseeable future.
My first benchmade! This knife is simply amazing in fit & finish and well crafted here in the USA! I have made several purchases through knife center and thier service, website, and selection are top notch!
Haven't made this beauty my EDC yet for selfish reasons. I can't stop admiring its stunning details. Anodized red liner and spacers. Awesome milled G10 scales. I'm not a big fan of coated blades but I can't imagine this knife without one. M4 super steel is incredible. This knife is made to work. Factory edge is plenty sharp but with a little tlc it became downright scary. Action was stiff out of the box (no surprise). After a little break in, it's as smooth as butter. This is a larger knife but the weight comes in at less than 4.5 ounces. Amazing. Ergos is superb and fits my average hand perfectly. Benchmade pulled out the stops on this revamped model and I hope this is something they continue. Cheap plastic scales always looked out of place on such quality knives. My one disappointment is the shallow carry clip which also sports a sharp edge. I ordered the deep pocket replacement from Benchmade for $10 but a $200 knife shouldn't have to be "fixed". That gripe aside, $200 out the door is a fantastic price for all that you get with the Freek. My favorite Benchmade by far!
Definitely my favorite Benchmade so far. No complaints at all. Will definitely be getting more Benchmade through knife center again thank knife center.
This is the first Benchmade knife I have ever bought. I love the ease of opening/closing with the lock mechanism, which exceeded expectations. The color/texture of the handle is attractive and comfortable, filling the hand nicely for a confident grip and control over the blade. I bought this knife in part because I wanted something very easy to hold, control and open/close safely, and can highly recommend this model to do so very well. The only let-down for me personally was the factory edge. Compared to my Kershaw Leek (the only other knife I have bought for myself in recent memory), this edge out of the box didn't really seem that sharp. It's a lot better now, after some time on my grandfather's oil stone, but I was disappointed with it enough that I didn't even want to carry it before I could sharpen the blade. It took me a couple of weeks to get around to it, which is why I didn't feel I had spent enough time with it to review/rate it until now. I do feel this knife is expensive enough that it should be "shaving sharp" out of the box, but this is the only criticism I have. Otherwise, this knife is even nicer in person than you might guess from a video online, and I have the sense that I will have to choose which of my children inherits it when I am gone.
I'm not sure if I just got a bad one, but the lock is noisy and weak. I was willing to pay the higher price because I was impressed with the quality and overall solid feel of the SOCP folder I have. This just doesn't compare. Two totally different levels of quality from the same company. I guess that's the difference between a blue class and a black class Benchmade knife. If you think this is a quality knife, you'll be blown away by the Spyderco Manix 2 and its locking system.
