This is the G17 of knives. It works every time and you can really depend on it. If I was going into a situation where I really may need a good knife this is one I would take. Factory grind is toothy and I like that now. Blade finish is really durable, looks almost coated but is not. Crossbar action is buttery on mine. Lockup is tight and sits deep on shelf. You could get lock stick if you swing it open hard but does give an awesome "thwack" if you do. Really great hard use knife. I would recommend. You have to get used to the grips but once you do it's great. It will not be the prettiest tool you own but neither is your G17.

Update 11/23/24
Since my initial review ( disappointed) I have put some work into this knife and it has now become my edc. First off I cleaned off the entire knife thoroughly then set about adjusting the centering and pivot screw tension to how it should have been right out of the box, added some KPL and now I have a freely moving blade that flies out with a flick of the thumb on the thumb studs, or by sliding the axis lock and a flick of the wrist. Unfortunately none of this should be necessary with a new knife directly from the manufacturers and especially at this price point from a well known knife brand. This has definitely altered my opinion of Benchmade and whether or not to purchase their products in the future.

Great, big knife that feels invisible in your pocket & even better in your hands! Been wanting to add a Benchmade to the fold & other models didn't do it for me like this one. Felt great right away! And you can't go wrong dealing with Knife Center!

Kind of an overlooked Benchmade knife that doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Great in the hand, no blade play and 100% solid build. Blade is a great shape and thickness to be super slicey while not feeling you have to baby it in any way. Scales are really nice too. Good grip and have taken some abuse already with no signs of wear. Great knife!!!

Great Benchmade
Love this knife and with a drop of oil it works like a charm. I've bought several of these and given them as gifts to my sons. As I told my son this is not the knife you EDC with skinny jeans. If you like a bigger size knife, I would recommend and you can't go wrong with Benchmade.

what a knife. the CF scales are great, knife wicked sharp out of the box. only complaint is it took a while to work in the blade 'release' mechanism. folks, if I returned every knife that was 'stiff' out of the box I wouldn't have many. no shame BM! stick with it

Benchmade knives are so incredibly tight and I love this iteration. It's probably not fair to compare, but I was coming from a Gerber Covert FAST as EDC and this thing just blows the doors off it. The thickness of the blade is perfect, the weight is spot on for me, and the CF material feels so so good. The AXIS opening and closing mechanism really is a game changer for single hand use esp coming from and auto and spring both with safety locks. No cons for me on this one: I can easily see myself buying the auto version of this one once it comes out.

Bought this for my EDC beater full size nice weight. 3 big problems 1.The old deep cary clips where nice,this one week and cheap. 2.lock stick,I mean horrible. 3.Grind so horrible I immediately reprofiled on the kme I started With the beast 50 grit which left better grind lines(seriously) used 5 more stones 3 kangaroo strops final .25 microns. Benchmades shouldn't be project knives, save $100.00 but a $40.00 Ontario rat 1 in d2 ,you'll have money in your pocket and a good work knife. Unless you're like me and have fun sharpening, bending and polishing otherwise Don't Buy or spend the money on a spyderco paramilitary 2 better grind and heat treat. I'm not even mad 🤑

Initial thoughts-Really Disappointed
I haven’t been buying Benchmade knives for a few years because they do not seem to be made like they used to but decided to give this one a try anyway. Unfortunately this one is no different! They must have been very busy when packaging the knife itself as even the pouch was only pulled up one third of the way up the knife. That was the very first thing I saw when unboxing this new knife and should have known immediately that Benchmade is still cutting corners. Now on to the Presidio II. I could hardly deploy the blade because of tremendous lock stick. I mean it didn’t budge at all trying using both the thumb studs and the axis lock. The blade is not nearly as sharp as it should and could be ( although there are multiple labels and statements to be careful of the sharp blade). It doesn’t even cut paper smoothly and leaves more of a tear than a cut. It is also supposed to be a satin finish on the blade but this one came with some type of dirty and greasy substance covering the blade; no it was not the type of grease that some manufacturers put on their blades to protect them; and when wiped off with much difficulty leaves the blade a dull gray color nowhere close to a Satin finish. The grind markings are also quite visible and are not symmetrical. Cannot be a full flat grind either as there is a large swedge along the length of the entire blade. When I first started buying from Benchmade their knives came with the little knife pouch, a cleaning cloth, and some blue lube. Their customer service was also top notch. However, over the years both the quality and even the customer service have greatly declined. First off they no longer include either the cleaning cloth or the little tube of blue lube. These days you are lucky if customer service even responds to your questions. The pocket clip used to be replaced or exchanged for a different style clip entirely for free and nowadays you have to purchase them. I had a custom mini crooked river made and they don’t include anything except the cheap little knife pouch ( Benchmade now says to use that pouch as your cleaning cloth ) let alone any lube or a separate cleaning cloth. I also had a design put on the blade but the Benchmade branding is larger than the design is therefore ruining the design I paid extra to have put on. To sum up, IMHO Benchmade should be ashamed of themselves and their not inexpensive products. They are no longer the only kid on the block and the new kids are making superior quality products.
