The masters of the lightweight design

I was concerned about balance and blade play before I purchased the narrows. All axis lock knives have a little blade play, but the narrows has zero. How they achieved this with such narrow scales I’ll never know. The balance is also perfect. Everything was really well considered on this piece. Its quality is on par with any premium knife maker and I can happily recommend to anyone on the fence.

Light weight king

I love this knife, disappeares in the pocket fast to deploy. How best to put it for how light the handles are, they really robust no flex that I can see.

Small knife lightness. Big knife capabilty.

I live in a hot climate and typically wear very thin, light weight pants and shorts. I don't want a heavy pocket knife pulling my pocket down. I typically carry small folders like a Kershaw Leek. But they are very small and delicate and not suitable for more robust tasks. This knife disappears in the pocket like a small knife, but has a larger blade with more capability. I don't understand some of the reviews mentioning that this knife doesn't open smoothly. Mine opens with a quick, very low effort flick. And it's smooth as butter. It's beautifully made and when anyone asks me to take a look, they are blown away when I hand it to them and they feel how light it is. This is a very nice, gentleman's pocket knife for sure.

Good but overpriced(read Mathew’s review) dead on

Fit and finish is great and it looks amazing, something I was a little nervous about because more than one of my benchmade has come with an off center blade and uneven grind on the blade. When I flick it out though the axis lock is kinda sticky. Also being that the blade is so light it takes a lot more effort to flick the blade out. The bluing looks pretty cheap especially on the pocket clip. It’s comfortable but you can definitely tell how thin it is. It’s a cool knife but you can get much better knifes for the price. Benchmade has let their name get to their heads and I’m disappointed with how much they are asking for this. If I could redo it I wouldn’t buy it again!!

Unquestionably good but…

Overall the knife is good. But the action is Mehh. I have 50$ knifes with better action. This one sounds rough when you deploy it and I struggle to spidy flick it at all. I added some lube to the pivot and it’s better but still not as good as you’d expect for the price tag. Stamped pocket clip and no titanium hardware either so that’s unfortunate. It feels good in hand even tho it’s extremely thin. But comes with a very coarse edge out of the box. I’d guess 600 grit is all they went to on this factory edge and is pretty disappointing. M390 in this application dosnt seem right either as the toughness of m390 is pretty low and this blade is so thin I’d expect chipping on any mildly difficult tasks. Would have preferred a different steel. Preferably magnacut in this application and price. It just makes more sense logically. Also the 58-61hrc of the m390 is what I would call mediocre at best as 61 is where m390 starts to become acceptable. Overall this knife could have been worth the price tag easily had they chosen a different steel, made it with 62-63hrc, included titanium hardware and clip, and gave it a better edge out of box. But for what you get this is a three hundred dollar knife that you have to pay five hundred for. I expect other manufacturers to copy this design spec for spec and come in 1/2 the price fairly quickly and I’m excited to see them when they ultimately do come out. I think benchmade needs a reality check and this may be the knife that gives it to them. If you are well off and don’t mind paying a 200$ premium it is a good knife though.

2 thin, 2 long & 2 much!

Just got mine and have been playing with it and immediately had some thoughts. Price aside, there are some design issues with this knife. While I understand wanting to be the thinest pocket knife on the market, it is just too thin. You’ll never cut anything thicker than paper or tape without it digging into your handAnd being uncomfortable. Given this, the blade materials (m390) almost seems wasted, like overkill. Its thinness also makes it unwieldy. Without any girth, operating the blade feels unstable. Now, with the thinnest knife on the market, why would you opt for a full length blade?!? It’s too much. Though I know it isn’t, it feels too long in pocket. Proportionally, 2.9” would have felt better, perhaps a little less tall. As others have said, I’m not really sure who this knife is for. I only bought one due to getting a sub $400 price and being curious. For most anyone else, I expect it to be too thin or too expensive for any real world task or job. I usually love me some Benchmade, but this one just misses any typical markets.
