Awesome American Benchmade quality
I got this for myself from knifecenter while shopping for a gift for a family member. It has all the Benchmade trademarks, plus an unusually low price. Benchmade's site says these are US made which is cool, because it's a simple design they could have made anywhere on Earth to save them money, but they make it here, like all of their best products. This hook is a 1 piece, foolproof emergency materials cutter with an outstanding carry-system. I have their original style rescue hook in the visor of my car and I've used that one to cut fishing line and other materials, which it does flawlessly. This new 8 hook though, I'm saving for true emergencies. I like the fact that these new designs have a good powder coat type exterior as my original traditional rescue hook is black, but has weathered some minor rust spotting. The molle compatible sheath is excellent and secure and even includes an elastic band around the top for further security for emergency response and law enforcement professionals who lead a more hectic lifestyle than myself. My neighbors are ER and medical professionals and I think they'd really be impressed by the design. The finger-ring at the butt of the tool is well placed and a lanyard hole is even provided. Traction grooves run the length of the spine of the thing for secure grip. I can't recommend this tool enough, I get excited about all high quality knives, and i love my Benchmades, but this is truly a remarkably well designed and simple tool that I'm glad I own.
