Big Fan of the Little Knife

This is a great knife for fans of small knives. I currently have 35 knives of this size, ranging from $20 to >$300, and put this in my top 5 right now. While it is not perfect, no knives are, and for ~$40, how close it is to perfect is astounding, especially comparing it to my much more expensive ones. The BabyX has some great attention to detail I do not usually see. - Small, framelock flipper with the clip positioned perfectly so that you don't end up squeezing the framelock while trying to flip it. - Really nice, grippy jimping that covers a good portion of the spine but never hurts - Blade and handle geometry give it the feeling it can cut beyond its size. Strong blade shape for this size, and, while I am a much larger than average person, I get a 3 finger grip on the handle. Downside I have experienced is some very minor detent lash. Going back to my intro, I still rate it a 5 because at $40, I still couldn't ask for it to be closer to being flawless. Love it, makes me want a full D Rocket folder. I do have the Boker Plus Suiseki, another D Rocket and Boker collab of this size, and would take the BabyX if I had to choose one.

It is really small and trying to get it to flip open is tough due to it being very stiff but the quality for the most part is there

GREAT!

Great little utility knife. Fun small flipper, very satisfying, breaks in nicely. Only reason it's not a "5" is the angular design catches on fabric on entry exit of pocket. counterpoint - the design and feel/texture are very satisfying.

Eh, not horrible, but has its problems

So the first thing i noticed was how easy it is to fail upon opening. You have to give it just the right type of "flick" for it to deploy and lock, there's just far too much friction for it to be a smooth opener. There is also a noticeable stop after the detent falls off of the rear of the blade when it is opened, almost like what you would feel a "half-stop" on a traditional folder. I know tolerances will loosen over time, but this "half-lock" feeling will likely stay. Second thing is that the "flipper" is the same surface that is used to lock the blade once it's deployed against the frame lock which means that the flipper is quite sharp around the edges and is cut at an angle which slightly detracts from the overall elegance of the knife. Last (negative) thing is that the frame lock is slightly difficult to manipulate, though this is somewhat tolerable given the small size of the knife. On a positive note, everything else on the knife seems to be well machined and consists of decent quality materials and is very slim and will likely make a good EDC blade for opening boxes or other things especially with the sheepsfoot style of blade. I have many Bokers, old and new, and i have noticed that many of the newer ones seem to share a common theme of using well machined and quality parts, with just weird unnecessary quirks or things that were just poorly executed. I still give props to Boker though for trying to think outside the box.
