A very good and affordable collaboration with Burchtree Bladeworks. The smoothness of the opening and closing is phenomenal. Quality and workmanship is really good and smooth edges in between materials. Blade came shaving sharp direct from factory, I'm surprised! Flips like a champ, and the pocket clip is nicely designed, a far cry from the standard usual rectangular long pocket clips and sits in the pocket nicely. Definitely a good purchase at the price! Don't be distracted by the 440C blade steel, it is hardy, stainless, and very easy to be sharpened!
This is as close to perfection as you will see anywhere even close to this price. The elegant grind lines, the jimping on the detent, the perfectly smooth ball bearings, the laser beam of a blade sharpened untill the hair jumps off your arm in fright, all of it is near perfect. When i got my knife the pivot bolt was just a hair to tight and i was hard to flip but after loosening it just a tenth of a turn with the included wrench it was a different knife. This knife is different from any other knife I've ever owned, it takes some getting use to. You might say there is a learning curve to this knife. As always with boker the worksmanship is phenomenal. I've probably flipped this knife 200-250 time and had to very slightly adjust the pivot screw twice, so there is some slight maintenance, probably about a minute of making tiny changes to get it perfect witch really isnt bad at all. I would definitely buy this again and would highly recommend to any one looking for a performance inclined gentlemens folder. If i had to complain about something it would be the fact that 440c is just not great at edge retention, but it more then compensates with the razor edge you can put on it. If they came out with a s30v or get really crazy and put a d2 blade on it i would own it in a heartbeat. Overall like i said above you cant go wrong with this fantastic deal and buying from the knife experts at knifecenter.com. Thank you for reading and dont miss out on this great knife.
I was looking to replace my everyday pocket knife and this was a great option in terms of look, feel, and performance. With a surprisingly thick, hefty blade and relatively round handle profile, it may be the largest 3" pocket knife you've ever owned. I use it for a variety of things, often on or near the ocean, so simple, fluid, and solid construction is critical; no assist spring or lock switch to rust, and a minimum of moving parts to maintain. The blade is super sharp out of the box. The matte finish on the blade is a no-fuss look consistent with its overall design. Only cons I can think of: (1) Again, despite its short OL, this is NOT a small knife. Its thickness and weight in your pocket takes some getting used to, and (2) because its a heavy blade, its opening action (while smooth) isn't lightening quick as with other folding knives (but you can adjust the opening action with the provided allen wrench).
